    Hi!
    Can you guys help me with this question
    Do you guys know if this http://www.mpcoutlet.com/sony-dvdrw-laptop-ide-c-747-p-3-pr-22030.html (it's a sony dvdrw) will fit on my first gen xps?
    also if that doesn't fit, do i have to buy it form dell?
    thnk's for the help!
    I know that my laptop is old , but i'm saving for a powerhouse laptop, and wanted to invest a little in the one that i have.

    Alright, the easiest thing for you to find is a Dell D-Series optical drive module. You can get a DVDRW for less than $40 on eBay, and it'll be plug and play.

    You could conceivably keep your current module and replace the drive inside it, but it really isn't worth the hassle. You don't save much and you may not have the proper interposer for the drive you buy.
