    Hello,

I'm having a strange performance issue with my xps l501x I think.

I remember doing nba 2k11 benchmark on a fresh - just restored to factory image - laptop and had over 70 fps with maxed settings.

Now, for the life of me, I can't recreate that, always having 45-50 fps on the same benchmark. I did 2 complete restores to the factory image, tried many gpu drivers (including the newly compatible ones from nvidia, and of course the ones from dell, newest and also the older ones) and nothing.

    I have i7 Q 740 version with 4 gb of ram.

    My 3dmark06 score is:

    3DMark Score: 6485.0 3DMarks
    SM2.0 Score: 2668.0
    HDR/SM3.0 Score: 2338.0
    CPU Score: 3265.0,

which also seems 1000 points off.

    Wat do?

One track could be that I had the mainboard replaced, but I don't really remember if I benchmarked it after the replacement, also if something went wrong there should be more visible issues than just poor performance in games, right?

    Give me your best shot.

    Best regards.

That's the problem with benchmarks, hardware will sometimes spit you out 1 result and another result another time.

Have you tried the latest Nvidia drivers?

I wouldn't dare to post if I didnt try them. I did complete restore to factory image (twice) just because of that.

That nba 2k11 benchmark sounds silly I know, but thats the only reference I have, and I'm sure it was maxed settings and consistent 70-80 fps (and it wasn't just one single time - I remember testing dell drivers vs laptopvideo2go).

My current 3dmark score also isn't that good, though.

Hrm, have you tried running the Dell Diagnostics? Perhaps you have failing hardware. Benchmarks are supposed to be consistent so having a significant drop doesn't make sense.

I did run dell diagnostics which show everything is fine.

I have consistent ~6400 3dmark06 score (on standard demo settings),
with system restored from factory image, updated gpu drivers to dells newest, and with newest A06 bios.

Looking around this forum, I found throttle stop, tested it and my cpu seems going all the way to 2.9 GHz fine, looked at gpu-z and GPU frequencies seem going all the way up also.

What could it be? directx maybe? What can I do to increase that 3dmark score?

I'm having the same problem on that game man. I used to get 70 frames per second on 1400x900 resolution with everything on high and now for some reason I'm only getting about 25 FPS. I have no idea why, it's strange...I did two clean installs as well. Let me know what you find out because I have no idea.
