Hey,
Today a strange thing happend to my laptop, i turned it on and shut the screen, then came back 30 min later to use it and the screen was off (happened to my old laptop just before it broke) and i had to restart it manually. When i turned it on again Vista went into its repair mode and searched and eventually "repaired" the problem, i think anyway. Ive only had this laptop about a month and it has been great so far, the performance has been really good, got 4582 on 3dmark06 with a slight oc first time i ran it. However, after i restarted and everything i went on call of duty 4 only to see that my fps were way lower than normal. The screen also "skipped" sometimes. fps's went down into the low 20s, and i have never been under the low 30s before. This worried me a bit so i ran 3dmark06 to see if i was actually underperforming and i got a score of 3150 or something. This seems extremely low and i cant believe what a drop in performance i just suffered. I also checked the windows performance rating and it has stayed the same. Has anyone else had this problem or knows how to fix it? thanks a lot!

Were you first numbers with upgraded drivers? If so, could be your drivers arent working. If they are stock dells, you may want to go to Laptopvideo2go.com and see about getting some good drivers to give you a boost. Stock I went up 250 points due to some drivers, whatda know. You get a stellar nb and as long as everything seems to be clean and updated, I would start at the basics and go through everything. CCleaner, spybot, av, reinstall/upgrade gpu drivers,... Good luck.

Hmm. If I am correct those are the straight desktop drivers with a modded inf or something to that effect? Maybe head over to laptopvideo2go.com and post up, they are super slow but you may get something. In the mean time you can grab up some new dell drivers or something with good reviews, I am using 167.58 but thats just so I do not have to use a modded inf, not that I would know more than the name of the difference, easier install maybe?
The f (ormat) word may have to happen. Trust me I did not want to do it, but I have done it 4 times to get my laptop right. It would be a real gnarly to reinstall, but then you can start fresh and troubleshoot everything.
Do this, try reinstall the drivers fresh and see if that works. Could be that error corrupted something. -
k thanks, i gave u some rep points
