Hi, my xps m1530 won't read cds, but can still read dvds. Anyone know what might be the problem? Is it a driver problem?

My PS2 did the same thing after a year of use... It is a drive problem indeed.
Use a DVD cleaner (not a CD as it doesn't read it) several times, it just might be some dust on the lens.

Wouldnt dust on the lens prevent both cds and dvds from not being read? I've tried blowing some compressed air inside, I dont think it's dust.

If you want to clean a slot loading dvd/cd drive your goign to have to buy a kit that costs a about 10-15 bucks that has a cd to go into the drive to clean the lens and anything else inside.

It can prevent from reading CDs, believe me.

If dust is not the problem, then the drive is causin this issue, which happened to me 2 times, one in a laptop and the other one in a PlayStation 2. I changed the laptop drive and everything was OK... and for the PS2... i just had to play DVD games =/
