    xps1340 cant connect to home network- help please

    Hi all
    I have a xps 1340 which i love but i am having a major issue.

    I did the a bloatware removal and all seems well.
    I can connect to the internet fine.

    I want to access my main computer (it has a shared drive)

    When I tried to change the workgroup name the workgroup name box is greyed out and i cant change it.

    I spent two hours yesterday with no joy.

    I then changed all the other computers from "home" workgroup to "workgroup" so they all matched.
    still no joy

    I have vista home premium. one of the other laptops also hase vista home premium and that allows me to make changes. I am very confused

    any help will be appreciated
