I always use the eject hardware button in the right bottom hand corner to ensure nothing is writing to the drive when I remove it. Half the time it says it's safe to remove it, other times it says that the hardware is still being used by other programs. I don't have anything running in the background - any idea why it should say this? I have to pull the flash drive key out of the laptop despite the message otherwise I'll be waiting forever - nothing has come to harm so far yet.

    adv thx.
