    Your XPS 420 link is broken...but I get around 11,000-12,000 3dMarks with my 8800GT. I think.

    I vote for the desktop.

only reason im getting the xps 1530 is so i can move it around the house abit, its not too slow and looks great

is there going to be a big dif while not gaming?
i got a ps3 for everything but rts games which either should run ok for 3-4 years, right?

While not gaming...there will be a difference, but not a HUGE one. While gaming though, you'll use the 420 and never want to go back to the 1530. For a 15.4" laptop of its size, the 1530 is a great mild-gaming system, but it'll never replace a desktop for that purpose.

I've had laptops much more powerful than the 1530...gaming demands the 420 IMHO.

For gaming I'd say go for the XPS 420, or better yet build your own desktop.

No, you would need to pick it. Though I am not sure if it is offered in the Uk.
