!!!problem!!!

Hi,

Wondering if someone on here can possibly help me out

Just bought an Inspiron 6400 and when I try and log on to websites such as bebo, hotmail, yahoo it will either not load the page, only load text or sometimes just freeze. Its not my router because I have 2 other laptops that work fine.

However, if I switch the laptop to "safe mode" the internet works fine. Therefore I, and the dell software guy, believe that it is one of my services that is blocking these websites.

For some reason my all websites work fine after 11pm....this is the case when I have tried logging on through friends wireless networks too....so It not just the one I have in my house.

Anyone had this problem before - because dell say its something that they have never heard of and basically want £70.00 to send someone out to look at it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

sounds like either a firewall setting/parental control block or some wierd phenomenom with the laptop in question.
what web browser are you using BTW.

 

I am using firefox with fasterfox plug in. Its not parental settings as I am the administrator and its nothing to do with my firewall as everything works fine late at night. The laptop works **** hot on the net when you have it in safe mode - but thats totally useless.

Its got to be one of my services - I jst cant figure which one.

 

can you disable faster fox, and which firefox, FireFox or FireFox 2?
what serivices are you refering to?

 

its nothing to do with the browser because IE7 is the same. But yeah its firefox 2 I'm running.

The services I am referring to are all the ones that are turned off when you enter safe mode. They can be found in control panel under administive settings then select services. (if your running vista click classic view)

 

well, then disable them one at a time till you find the culprit.

 

easier said than done - Its a pain in the arse.

Managed to find the restore to factory settings facility - so seems to be okay now....only problem is Its now saying that I need administrator permission to download anything - "I AM A F**KIN ADMINISTRATOR YOU STUPID PIECE OF SH*T" - but no matter how loud I shout, it never seems to listen.
