I do have a very good deal from a powerseller with over 430 rating and 99.8% positive feedback. I highly doubt anything is scam in his case but just to make sure, what would happen if you later realize the laptop is stolen? Would Dell still honor the warranty, do they keep a track of stolen serial number?

If you buy stolen goods, you are screwed. Yes they do keep track of them if they are reported.

Have the seller fax or email you a copy of the invoice. If he's the original owner he can get one immediately from the dell website. If he tells you he can't/wouldn't do that...I wouldn't buy it. Although its not probable... In most states, If it is stolen... YOU can be charged with Possesion of stolen property. Its your responsibility to make sure that it was purchased through a legal transaction.

Also, what's this guy's item history like? Has it typically been high-value electronics like laptops, or is it filled with low-dollar items?
