greetings, I will absolutely hugely appreciate any feedback and help from all you guys. I've checked all the posts in the forum with "m1330" in them and found nothing similar. New M1330 just arrived.

Running: VISTA 32x 2 gig ram 160 gigs core2 duo processor
    drive info: Device Type: DVD/CD-Rom
    Vendor ID: HL-DT-ST
    Product ID: DVDRW GSA-S10N
    Product Rev: A100
    Vendor Info: 010625071M7CBI5320

    THE PROBLEM
When burning movies into dvd-r format which is suposedly supported by the drive the process completes, but all the movies I burn play laggy and jump from position to position, and when burning the same iso file with my pioneer drive of my desktop I have no issues at all.

Also tried installing the firmware update A101 from dell site, but the update program doesn't run.

I have tried 3 dvd brands and tried playing the dvds in different drives getting always the same results.

    WHAT I'VE DONE
tried different burn speeds with the same result, different brands of dvds with the same result, factory restore of the laptop getting the same result, called dell tech support said it was drive failure, they came and replace the drive, it still can't update the firmware and I have the same burning problems.

Please plz plz advice, best regards.

The firmware is drive specific...not all the drives are the same brand.

maybe it is the speed at which you are burning it at? maybe the program you are using?

no, I've used imgburn and roxio and nero, the firmware i'm trying to install is the update provided by dell for the specific drive shipped with the m1330. I've burned in different brands at different speeds with the same result.
plz any other thing I could do before going crazy? :(

Do the movies burned on the 1330 play laggy on the 1330's drive itself? What device do they play laggy on? Maybe the device doesn't like the way the 1330 burns them which is weird. Keep us updated!

Are all the drives you burned on DVD-R? Have you tried DVD+R?

DVD+R > DVD-R, but they should work the same regardless. I am just curious.

What discs are you using? Poor media can often be an issue.

Oh yeah, brand wise I'd suggest TDK.

Tayio Yudens are widely considered to be the best blanks, both CDs and DVDs. They're hard to find in stores, but are available on the internet. You have to be careful when buying them as there's lots of fakes. Verbatims are usually a good second choice.

Are you burning just DVD movies? Tried any other types of video formats such as AVI files, MP4 files? Do they turn out the same when you burn them on the DVD disc?
