I recently installed Vista Ultimate on my M1210. I have a Core Duo 1.83 GHz processor and I did upgrade my RAM from 1GB to 2GB before I installed it, but you'll probably be fine if you have 1GB of RAM.
Many others on this forum have installed it as well.
Things run just fine, including all the graphical "features". So far, I'm pretty pleased.
If you search this forum, you'll find some guides on getting all the drivers installed, etc. I had no problems getting everything working (including the Verizon Wireless card that I have, webcam and card reader). -
i got mine with vista ultimate, and i just had my first blue screen error crash "Partial Memory error"? ...happened while i was doing a full system virus scan on norton and while trying to set up my wireless network at skool.
Not a fan of the over hyped gadgets ....i just use the weather, processor and ram gadgets...it just takes up space on ur desktop -
I'd disable UAC and the sidebar if I were you. Totally useless.

Did that BSOD happened again?

wuts UAC and BSOD?

Depends on what applications you use.
I use the GNU C++ compiler and cygwin all the time, and cygwin has lots of problems under vista, so I am not upgrading to vista in the near future... not until cygwin developers fix all the issues under vista. (cygwin's chmod doesn't even work under vista due to the vista security feature; this pretty much disables installation of many components of cygwin :S) -
as far as the bluescreen as soon as i uninstalled norton internet security/antivirus and installed avast all my problems went awayand have not seen a bluescreen since everything works wonderfully with ultimate and it seems faster than xp, gaming seems a little worse as far as frames but most are playable

BSOD=blue screen of death -
Good to know that Vista runs well. It's not surprising, I mean the M1210 is a very powerful machine and has a very capable video card for its size.

I upgraded from XP home to Vista Home premium on my XPS M1210
Apart from the overall better usage experience, I am also getting a ~15-20% better battery life ..
And without any noticeable performance drop -
I am curious has anyone tried Vista Business on XPS M1210?
What happens if you sign up for the System Express Vista but do not install it until Microsoft gets the bugs worked out?
Is the Ultimate Vista worth the extra money?
Thank You in advance. -
