Hi,
I have an insprion 8600 with a Pentium M 2ghz processor (1gb ram, etc). I was looking at a few of the 1520 or other vostro laptops. I saw a deal earlier today for 399 for a 1.4ghz C2D dell laptop (1gb ram, etc).
So how much faster would the 1.4ghz C2D laptop be vs a Pentium 2ghz M ?
I realize the C2D bus is 800mhz vs the M running at 400mhz (I think).
Is that the big difference? Will it be a big difference?
The difference between my M1210 (with 2ghz C2D) & the Insprion 8600 (2ghz) feels huge. That could be due to the SATA drive & faster ram though.
Thanks,
Rich

The 1.4GHz would probably be about the same amount of power actually...maybe a little more.

the 1.4ghz C2D should be faster b/c its a Dual Core cpu

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html look here to see benchmarks. any C2D should beat out any previous processor because the clockspeeds don't matter as much. they are much more efficient while the previous processors, like P4, was based purely on clock speeds.

Thanks, that chart is helpful!
