yeah the deal was worth it no doubt but i had to pick stuff over the phone and try to remember what i wanted.. now if i change anything it goes out so far i may end up not getting credited or it will "get lost" i have the case number and i did call and it was valid so i guess im safe.. since i am paying more for the insiron than the vostro's i hoped to be able to pick and choose more especially the color.. but it seems unless i want a late oct date im stuck
-

is there a dedicated page showing the steps of production your laptop goes to? or is it just the little text next to the order numbers saying "pre production" etc?
-
$1,904.51 man. You got one hell of a deal
-
gotta call the order status line
-

wtf thats what you paid??? or what??
-

but does the pre production text say "boxing" and the different steps as well? or is it only the order status line where you can find that out
-

my config when done came to 2023 on the web site.. before diso****s
-
yea, thats sounds right. Theres tax and then the $325 off comes to about 1900. You lucky guy you
-

hmm i orderd the 1440 x 900 screen but everyone seems to be saying that this resolution is the only problem resolution, have there been grainy screens of the two other resolutions or is it primarily the 1440 x 900?
-
yea, most people complaining about the grainy screens have the 1440 x 900 resolution ...sorry man. Why not get the 1680? It'd be way sharper.... ...sorry man. Why not get the 1680? It'd be way sharper....
-

1680 seemed like it'd be way too small, anyone have any side by side pics of the three resolutions and the sizes of things on the screens for each? i guess i'll go search around for some more
-
1680 isnt bad at all. Check out the review section on notebookreview.com for the 1520. All of them reviewed are with the 1680 resolution. I think its perfect, especially if you're a game and movie buff. Now UXGA (1920 resolution) THATS too small.
-

oh btw is the expresscard bluetooth remote being shipped seperately normal? or rather it having its own order number seperate from the actual notebook
-
totally normal. I ordered the high end soundblaster xi-fi sound card with mine and it shows as a separate order too. But both your comp and remote should come together. My one regret is not paying the $20 and getting bluetooth capacity......
-
 My Insprion has finally shipped.

Now all I have to do is hope that the 1440X900 screen isn't all f*#ked up like other people on here.
-
why the heck is everyone so against WSXGA+???
-

Ordered last Sunday, the 19th. Been calling since Friday and I am still in the build stage. Is build the first stage, or is my laptop actually making progress?

Classes start next week Tuesday. I don't see myself having it by then.
-

yay a matter of hours that i'll leave this club. it is actually in the DHL truck ...*faints*
-

Whoa whoa whoa. You ordered 2 days after me, and have it coming already? What monitor do you have? Wireless card?

-

-

 Answer my questions!!!!
-

 Or my PM, which ever.
-

sorry tgab for making you wait
-

Speaking with Dell chat right now. The delay is caused by the black case!!

Edit: Now I've got free next business day shipping though
-

 It finally came!!!!!!!!
-

how are some people who ordered weeks after, getting theirs sooner?
-

 that's what she said

 lol sorry couldn't help it.
-

 LOL!!!!!!!!!
-

 It's Hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

 Cheeaa!
-
Nice, any grainyness or light leakage? and which lcd is it
-

im still waiting for mine damnit!!!..... COME ON!!!
-

i am writing from my new 1520!
this thing is excellent...there is a bit of lightleakage but not too bad. the video quality is great. i'm not sure what graininess is but the display looks Crystal clear nad sooo bright.
-
For IE or firefox, open a new tab. If you see blur of greyish things on the screen that looks like oil or grease...that's grainy :| By the way which LCD was it?
-
Ordered mine on the night of the 26th (Sunday) with an estimated ship time of 9/10. On Monday, it was already in the testing stage. By Monday night, it was in the boxing stage. Now, as of today (8/28) the ESD is 8/30. Verrrrrrrry crazy.
-

the screen is a cpt141f and it is FLAWLESS....
-

How will I be able to tell which screen? On the Dell paperwork? Windows system info or where?
-

 Ordered:8/26
 Production:8/27
 Testing:8/28
 Boxing:8/28
 ESD:8/30 -actually shipped 8/30
 EDD:9/4

Judging by what everyone is saying, I feel lucky so far??

-
according to my most recent call about 20 min ago im still in build... starting to seriously doubt that they will hit the 31st ship date

at least i will be able to get some more comps out of them or something... started with that 2gig usb drive... wonder what i can get if they dell-ay me.
-
i want ma lappy =( aaaaaaaaa... cant wait anymore. My order status is still in Production (might be wrong tho) so i just want it NOW =P

 Inspiron 1521, AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 (1.7GHz/512KB)Jet Black

I ordered on 08/16 ESD is 08/30/2007 I am looking at the my account site , and call the automated number . Still in Build. I chatted with CSR he said no backorder, but he said there was a problem in their system. He is telling me the ESD , but I can not check it.... I do not know what I should do
-

finally got it thank god!!!!! im sitting here typing on it, so far i have no complaints at all, no graininess at all, and i dont see any light leakage, but then again im not exactly sure what that is. I was a lil surprised at the weight of it, but I can deal with that...good luck to everyone whos waiting, it was well worth the wait.
-
i just ordered a Vostro... lets see when that one hits boxing
-

i got mine today and love it.. but i think itcould use a clean reinstall...
-

the vostro's ship way faster than the inspirons do
-
thats what im hoping for. Gonna call tomorrow and cancel the 1520 and get them to transfer my free overnight shipping to the vostro. From what i'm hearing i severely doubt the 1520 will ship on the 31st... the CSR told me they were still waiting on the LCD's... so my hope is minimal for that.
-

I still don't understand how my order is delayed because of the black lid, but, some people here ordered a week later than I did, and they already have theirs, or theirs is about to be shipped. I am stuck in the 'build' stage. I chatted with dell earlier and was told the lid is the delay.
-

they told me it was the LCD screens, but considering the build process it probably is both. I assume from what i have been told that the Lid/LCD is one unit. I'm keeping my 1520 order up to see if it gets an official delay or not... should be funny to see.
-

here you go guys....i hope you enjoy..the notebook is great..no graininess at all. i just did a clean install of vista and it runs much faster with alot less processes.
