I ordered a jet black replacement on the 6th and it shipped on the tenth.

I ordered mine on the 2nd of Aug. with very similar specs to all of you. I'm starting to thing Dell does this random process thing...WTF!? My guess is that it's the screen or the hard drive holding mine up...i dont know. My specs are in the sig.

Yeah but that doesn't really mean anything. "Build" is the stage you're gonna spend quite a bit of time in 8 days here so far =[

i got the wsxga screen
i ordered it on 8/4. my esd was 8/22. but it shipped 8/11, and dhl says it'll be here on 8/15.

 

This is truly random. Dell will tell you there's delays here, delays there.. and yet there's no set pattern to which laptops leave the factory based on the hardware (except for the lids, but even that doesn't matter much anymore).

 

Ordered mine today and got my tracking number too. Dell says its gonna take 24hrs to view the order report. My ESD is the 30th, but I ordered all standard parts, and I don't think that there's a shortage on T7500 Processors like there is on the T3000's. Hopefully I'll get it before the 25th.

 

aww hey we have almost the same specs! Let's hope dell magically finish with our laptops and send it next week

 

I ordered a Jet Black Inspiron 1520 on Aug 1. It's estimated to be delivered on Aug 20. It's still in production. Does anyone think it will arrive on time?

 

That depends. Use the phone automated order status to find out whether it's in Build stage, Testing, or Boxing. Yours should be testing or boxing by now though.

 

I highly doubt black lids will have a delay...it'll probably arrive on or before the ESD. I really hope mine goes into boxing or something other than build tommorow .

 

Lady on Dell Chat told me black lids are delayed, but couldn't tell me how much they're delayed. Plus there hasn't been many postings from people who are having their black 1520's shipped, I guess either because those delays are true or people just don't come here anymore once their stuff is shipping

 

Looks like I may get to move out of this waiting room. My computer just went into testing! Woohoo!

You know what is kind of sickening? I canceled my red order because I thought I would get the black faster. Now it seems like the reds are shipping right now at the time my black is in testing. If I would have stayed pat, I probably would have my red at the same time as my black. Then some perks because the red would have been delayed.

 

I ordered on the 5th and my dell is still at the build stage, hopefully they start testing by this wed and get it boxed and shipped by the 17th, otherwise I am going to complain and pretty mad because this is my first Dell purchase.

I ordered mine through the military (AAFES Exchange) thing online...but when i talked with the CSRs, they said it had nothing to do with how they prioritize the orders. I ordered on the second, and im getting really tired of listening to the automated lady say "this order is in production, and is currently in the build stage"...sigh

 

I just had a chat with a dell customer service and it was really helpful! I asked if any part of my notebook is back ordered and the answer was no! I really hope it will come next week...she said it will ship on 8/27..which is same on dell order status :/

 

My order is in the boxing stage, with the free next day shipping a haggled out of Dell after making me deal with their cust service maze (I called in to cancel/upgrade my order to the T7300), I could have it by Wednesday. It was ordered on the 9th.

But I'm thinking of canceling/re-ordering to change the 5400RPM SATA hard drive to a 7200rpm.

Should I cancel and re-order just so I could change my harddrive from 160G 5400RPM to 160G 7200RPM?

or should I just keep it as it is to prevent further delay.

The main thing I'm worry about is if my laptop will handle games like WoW or current games without lag. I'm afraid that the games might lag because of the harddrive speed.

 

Games won't lag because of the hard drive, they might take like 10-20% longer to load but that's it. Your real bottleneck will be the GPU.

at Dell shipping 2 people who ordered after me . I ordered on 8/1 and its still in Build stage.

Called dell chat and the rep told me there was no part delaying my order. I dont understand what is the hell is holding them to move my order to testing -> boxing -> shipping

btw as standard practice the rep upgraded me to next day business day shipping

Keep the faith. I went through testing today and have now graduated to boxing. ESD is still 8/21, though.

 

Checked twice today still build I'm a little pissed off now.

 

You mean the CPU right.

So the harddrive speed mainly effects the loading, but not the actual game performance.

What about the lastitivity of the harddrive, there should not be a different between the two different HD speed effecting how long the harddrive should last.
