1520 ship date Aug 2, still in build stage...

Do you think I'll get it on time. In one hand, I really want it, but in the other, if it's late, I can call and whine and get free stuff. I just don't know which I'd prefer...

 

same case for me (1520 - build stage - aug 2) but im not debating at all. i just want my laptop. im tired of waiting.

 

If it goes into boxing today, I bet you will get it on time.

Mine is due to ship tomorrow. Still in build though No delay notice yet either. We'll see, tomorrow.

 

I have the same problem. I ordered on July8 and my ship date is Aug 2..already been delayed twice....still in build stage.

If it is not out of the build stage by tomorrow...chances are it will not be shipping and the delay notices do not come until late in the day when it is supposed to ship.

I am thinking and I hate to say it after waiting this long but if my order gets delayed a 3rd time...I am going to have to cancel and re-order at a later date.

 

I really hope this delay is part of some grainy LCD conspiracy. A crystal clear LCD will be worth the wait.

Mine is also expected to ship tomorrow, even though it's still in production, i was told by 2 dell reps that it would ship tomorrow and there isn't a chance that it will get delayed this time. I don't believe them.

 

Sigh.. order is still in production stage. I think mine is gonna be delayed... what kind of free stuff can I get?

 

That would be cool if they fixed all the problems, including the lack of GDDR3, but I'm not very hopeful. I'm pretty sure this is just them not being able to cope with the number of orders, not them worrying about fixing problems. Hope they prove me wrong though...

 

Not to be bitter, but dont you just hate it when were all chatting about waiting weeks, with our notebooks still being in the"build" stage, and someone who bought theirs like 2 days before says mine is in the boxing stage do you think I will get it early?

You're not making any friends by rubbing that in peoples' faces.

There still may be a chance it'll ship in time. Sometimes the Dell status thing just plain isn't accurate.

 

What are your specs? I ordered mine on the 10th and have the same shipping date? Won't be shocked if mines delayed, silly me for choosing a popular color.

 

Same deal for me. Supposed to ship tomorrow but still in the build stage. I ordered on 7/8 and have already been delayed once. On 8/9 I'm going on vacation and it looks like I won't have my laptop to take with me.

And I don't even get any emails from Dell when it gets delayed.

 

Why are they making the people who've waited the longest wait even longer? My est. ship date is tom. but still in the build stage.... when should I call today, or wait till tom.?

 

call and see what is up. My shipping date is 8/7, but I called dell yesterday to see, just in case, I got a delay. The guy I talked to said there is a small delay on red covers on laptops, but he said he couldn't say if it would delay my order or not. I ordered 7/26

 

ordered july 6th, was supposed to be delivered on july 23rd, and now i see august 20th.

do i have the record for the longest wait?

 

okay I called and the lady said there were no back orders and sounded surprised when i told her about the color delay.

 

How do you guys know if its being built or boxed? All I can find is "in production".

they told me the same thing yet we all are still waiting.

 

Mine shipped today, and was in the build stage this morning, via the phone update. It went from build to shipped in a matter of hours.

My 1520 shipped yesterday.. I guess order processing speed depends on what plant the order is assigned to.

 

Nope mine did not ship it got delayed untill aug 14th!

 

hate to give you guys bad news but dell has known for 3 weeks that the 1520 and 1521 were on backorder. i talked with a dell rep that works for the army airforce exchange and he told me that the 1520 and 1520 has been having problems with the new LCD colors backgrounds and the built- in camera. I ordered green and if i would have got black or brown I would have it by now. I called and confronted the dell customer service with this info today and they told the truth (for the first time) and my order that was to be ships on aug 2 is now showing as sep 4th in there computer for shippment date. I like dells products, I just dont like dells bussiness practices. if they would have told the truth when I first called them a week ago or even on the 2nd when they told me i would be out my the end of the day!!! I would not be so upset. and again, sorry for the bad news.

Colors without webcams seem to be easier to get.

 

Thats what I was told today by Dell, I orders the 1520 green on the 19th of Jul with a est. ship date of 2 aug now is' it 4 sep. no camera on mine. and the told by dell directly it was because of the color of the LCD, if i can-x'ed the order and orderd black or brown I would get it soon because the black and brown are in stock.

 

I ordered yellow with no webcam on Jul 8 and it doesn't look like I'll get it any time soon

 

I got all excited, only to find out this morning, that my laptop is not shipped, but is delayed to August 28.

Thats horrible. Im glad they gave you your discount for that, but Im sure you wish they would have just shipped already. Thats just cruel.

I have an estimated ship date of 8/10 with delivery on 8/13(next day). I was told by an online CSR that my 1520 will be shipped on or before 8/10. I ordered it a week ago tomorrow(7/29). When will I be informed that shipping will be delayed till whenever??

 

I've been wondering that too. I called this morning, still in build stage. My original ship date is Monday. I talked to a CSR last week, and he said it should ship out on Monday, but how can that be if it's been in build for 22 days? I just wish they would go ahead and either move it to testing, or tell me what my delay is. He also said that they couldn't expidite my order until the original shipping date had past. I want to know when I'm going to be told that mine is delayed as well.

 

They will probably tell you on Tues. I have this mental picture in my head that when they get the screens,they rush and put it on the computers with black lids. Then they run out and we are all waiting an extra week! Can't be bad for them because they are only working whenever the screens come in. Maybe I should quit my job and become a Dell Computer Assembler.
