Good News! Connecting a new, dual 3-prong 90 watt adapter (both the ac adapter cord and the electric power cord) seems to have corrected/eliminated the tingling
sensation on my laptop. Its been a couple of days
and so far so good.
Also, this 1530 is awesome, as is the Dell professionals who helped me work thru some issues I faced.
Very happy w/this Dell laptop. Thx.
-
How did you get the 3-prong adapter? Did you call customer service?
-
POH, yes, customer service is the department i contacted.
Let me know and I'll send u the part numbers. But ofcourse the CSR will hve them as well. -
Thanks Mt9. I'm assuming that you got this for free? Was it just the cord or the whole adapter unit?
-
POH, yes it was free -- I had to return the ac adapter and power cord after the fact.
If u'r planning to make this request be as specific as you can w/u'r request. Provide part #'s if possible or have the CSR confirm part #'s back to you so you can check.
Avoids confusion later. -
Did you get the same part numbers that were discussed here before?
Buda -
Buda, yes, i did get those same parts. I don't have them handy but if u need them I will send. Just let me know.
There are so many variations that it took a while to get the
right pieces but its finally done and it kworked. Thank you for all of your help. I appreciate it. -
What tingly sensation? I usually get a hugh static shock when I touch mine. Would the 3 prong correct that?
-
Glad I canceled my order for the 1530.
-
Are you guys saying your laptop electrocutes you?
ROFL -
Yes, the Dell 1530 literally shocks the user.
-
Yes. My laptop zaps me every time I touch it. Probably has to do with the fact that I use it on the couch.
-
Depends on the shoes I wear, but I get shocked. Pretty much anything I touch but since the 1530 has soo much metal, it probably conducts better than your average lappy.
-
Pls, humor aside, don't let this thread about tingling sensations in palm rest of some 1530's be a deal breaker if u'r considering the 1530.
If u are concerned -- do your 'due diligence and get information to make an informed decision.'
In my case the 3 prong dual adapter and changing my environment (i.e. humidifier, etc) made a huge difference.
an easy fix for an awesome laptop! Good Day! -
Wow, honestly, I would prefer to have a laptop without... hidden features.
People have different threshold levels and some people certainly don't expect to have their power plugs replaced, much less experience this shock at all. So I wouldn't blame anyone who'd refuse to buy the laptop because of this. -
Mine came with the 2 prong and I have no tingling sensation ..unless I go to the dark side of the internet!!!LOL!!!kidding aside ..no issues... . cheers!
-
Scythie, u'r entirely correct and I understand u'r thread.
What I'm suggesting here is that if u'r in the market to buy new laptop - its best to do your research -- then you'll probably avoid 'hidden features.'
I didn't realize that environment can impact electronic performance.
All in all, i'm thrilled w/my 1530 and, I'm sorry that you vou this model w/'hidden features'. There really is nothing hidden about it. -
Can you post or send to me the parts numbers? There's 2 components right, the cord and the adapter itself. Thanks.
-
I'd be interested in having these part #s too.
Thanks! -
Mt9,
Yes please post your parts numbers here (and pics of the power supply in decal, if you can), people who receive the EXACT same parts will have a better chance explaining (yelling) to support when they need the replacement.
Thanks

This is both pathetic and sad all at the same time.
-
scooberdoober, why?
-
here are the part #'s
ac cable (electric cord to wall) Dell Part #F2951
ac adapter (connects to pc) Dell Part #U7809
This is for a dual 3 prong (linear) 90 watt ac adapter.
This is all I have now, trying to find packing slip.

These problems are not something any prospective purchaser should be facing. It's quite simply unacceptable, and Dell should get the message. I had a 1530 on order, and I thought they had learned their lesson from the latest Inspiron line that has been plagued with numerous problems. However, then I started reading about the same old grainy screen problems, audio jack static, poor build quality, and users actually getting shocked by them; order canceled, end of story.
-
I don't blame you, but this is a problem nation wide (international wide), when you start trying to get the greatest profit margin by choosing cheap labour, cheap designs, that's what'cya get.... it's called the walmart syndrome... it's everywhere, it's in our kids toys, to our appliances, to our cars, and finally.... in the loss of our jobs....
Quality does not equal cheap.... north americans, as well as the companies that employ them need to understand that again.
sorry for the rant...

Maybe you should've actually taken the laptop and judged for yourself whether it's worth your money, and returning it if you don't like it. People tend to point out problems on these forums, to base your entire opinion on those negatives without actually seeing the laptop in person.... is quite sad.
-
I don't have any desire whatsoever for the Dell-go-round, thanks anyways.
-
I got my replacement power supply and cord today. Thanks for the part #s!

I am very happy with my m1530. I am perfectly fine with my laptop here in California. Occasionally I get the tingling feeling but meh. Occasionally i get shocked touching the door too. It happens.
