1720 just shipped.. question

Wooo my 1720 just shipped out at around 9:30 PM. I was just wondering will my notebook still be delivered tomorrow since it shipped out so late tonight? I have the next day delivery btw. Thanks in advance.

 

Look at your tracking and see what time the carrier actually received the item this may help.

 

I would think so. If it says its shipped, its either in a plane or a truck heading in your direction and should be there next business day.

2gb RAM
Glossy 1440x900 LCD

 

I wouldn't get too excited because mine "shipped" last night and my tracking still says "8/16/2007 12:00 am Shipment Acknowledged Nashville, TN" it says nothing about the package being picked up just that the data was received. Just don't want you to get excited and think its coming and it not show up tomorrow just because they didn't actually pick up the shipment. I really hope you do get it tomorrow though!

 

Thank you for the hope. I need it. As I leave for college on Sunday. So it's either tomorrow or two weeks from now... Would there be any possible way to pick it up Saturday? If it doesn't come tomorrow that is.

Hey if your package is with DHL try calling 800-225-5345 say track and then the tracking # It was updated sooner than the website and gave me an EDD so hopefully it will have yours!

 

Bigmo, what did they give you as an EDD?

 

I only have standard ground and EDD is Monday 8/20 which I figured it would be because that's my luck...I had a CSR attempt to upgrade the shipping but then said it was too late she couldn't make it happen. Oh well I'll have all weekend to look forward to the Vostro! lol

Alright I just got my tracking number. It shows 12:00 AM 8/16/2006 - Shipment Acknowledged - Nashville, TN. So does that mean it was actually there last night?

Dell shows express ground and the DHL site just says ground... I hope that doesn't mean they are driving my package from TN.

God damnit. I called DHL it says Monday. What the hell.

 

Update: After talking with a DHL representative, they are telling me they never received my package. WTF is this.

 

It's probably like the USPS's online tracking that says they've only been notified to expect a package for mailing. IE: They set up a package and gave the sender a tracking number, but the USPS hasn't actually received the package yet.

So Dell probably set up the packing slip with DHL but haven't actually handed it over yet.

 

Yeah, that's the case it seems. I didn't realize this at first because the Dell representative told me the wrong information and didn't have any idea what was going on. Utterly useless.

I was told by DHL that if my package arrives tomorrow at the DHL hub, I could pick it up for a $15 fee. Lol. They charge a fee to pick up my own package. Isn't that a convenience for them? They don't even have to deliver my package. Absolutely ridiculous.

 

$15 wow. I would say screw that and just wait...make them work for it.

 

LOL....well, shipped to Dell and DHL really only means that Dell notified DHL that they have a package to ship. it's only really shipped when your tracking indicates that it left the Dell Shipping center and arrived at some DHL shipping hub.

Mine shipped at midnight last night, and it only indicates that DHL has acknowledged that there is a package to ship which means that its been picked up by DHL and off to one of their sorting centers. Since mine originated in Sparks, Nevada I am guessing that it will probably go straight from there to their sorting hub down in Riverside, CA and then on to me. This is only a hopeful guess, but that is my experience with DHL and shipping. So, my hope is to get my 1720 on Monday at the earliest, Tuesday at the most likely, and Friday by the absolute latest.

Since 8/7/07 I'm only complaining because this was a replacement notebook that was assured to me by two Dell managers that would arrive by 8/17. I haven't had a working notebook for 3 months, so I've put up with my fair share of crap.
