Anyone knows how to order a 7200rpm hard drive for inspiron 6000 laptop?
In the website there are no options to pick. I guess the default is 4200rpm

I'm pretty sure I've read that most of the hard drives shipped out are 5400rpm drives.

In following some of the other threads here, some have been able to upgrade by placing a phone order. It took some a couple of tries to get someone on the phone who could make it work.

I placed my order online with the $750 off, which is online only. I changed the hard drive over the phone, but it took a couple trys to get somone to do it. They had to re-do the order with the 7200 RPM hard drive. It gets really frustrating, because you might have to call more than 10 times until someone with experience changes the order for you, and just doesn't say, "sorry we can't add the 60gb 7200rpm hard drive, because it's not avaiable for us.

I kind of wish I could call all those reps back and shove it in there faces that I got somone to select the hard drive for me.

Why don't you save a few bucks and pick up an 80gb 5400 drive? You're going to have similar performance to the 7200 due to increased density and 20 gb more storage. No brainer.

Yes, they took the coupons over the phone. The I6000 can in at 6.7 pounds. I belive the 7200rpm hard drive speeds every thing up. If you need more storage you can always add a external hard drive later.

Dam I'm with the Dell reps now. They are giving me the run around. All of them keep saying that the system doesn't allow the change. Question? Is there a big difference if I get the 80gb 5,400rpm between the 60gb 7,200rpm. I'm not sure if it is worth it to call the dell reps 10-15 times just ot find someone who will make the changes.
