The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 90W AC adapter or higher for best system operation.
I've had my computer *1720* now for 2 weeks. I got the message about 5 days in and did a dell chat and they sent me a new power cord.
So now I am using a new one and I got the same message. Thought it may have been caused by what my power cord was plugged into but apparently not. It also happened to my 8600, went through 3 power cords, then a new motherboard. Dell online chat isn't available right now and I don't want to call, so could it be the motherboard on my 1720 that is causing the problem?

I *had* the same problem with my Dell Vostro 1500 adapter.

Turns out to be a slightly crooked copper tip inside the adapter tip where you plug it into the power input.

Fix this by realigning the small copper looking tip and it worked fine since.

 gitar1, nailed it.

When will people learn to evolve the damn adapters not to be prone to these type of problems.
