Where are you from? The UK? Are you talking about the Jet Black cover? If so, it's only a delay of about 4 days. I can also tell you that if you don't go for the fingerprint reader, that'll set you back 7 days.
That's UK delays anyway. I ordered mine on the 5th. -

I ordered my Studio 15 on the 26th, was supposed to ship out on the 5th, delayed shipment date till the 12th. If it gets delayed for more than a week on the 12th, I'm ordering something else.

There are way too many thread about "delayed shipment". You guys are hilarious. Welcome to the world of custom online purchases.
You have to remember that you ordered them in late July, currently this is Dell's busiest time of the year. As much as Lenovo's are great laptops they're not as popular with the student demographic.
Mid to late August is even worst, I've had friends get their laptop delayed till early October... Count yourself lucky you'll have it in time for the school year. -
Well, Sebastien, I'm sorry, but when I order a laptop, and I'm TOLD it will be here by a certain date, I naively assume it will be here by that certain date.
What if a textbook company was to suddenly delay all their textbooks by a month?
Anyways, I'm canceling my Studio order and ordering an Asus. -

Well, this is the reason why I build my own desktops each year or two; I can order on a Monday, receive all the parts on Tuesday morning and have the thing built and running in time for lunch.

I just got the damn email too. It was supposed to ship today, but now it says it's been delayed until August 18th. I knew it was coming because of everyone else's delays, but still.

What you were told is;
1) in the email sent by dell, the date is clearly under the "Estimated Ship Date" column
2) If you click the order status number you're taken to your order info on Dell's website, it clearly states on the right of the screen under Estimated Delivery...
"Estimated Delivery Date is: 00/00/00
Any estimated delivery date contained in this "Order Status" section is for information purposes only. Changes to the "Shipped by date" shown may occur. We recommend that you visit this site again 24 hours prior to the date provided for confirmation and further updates."
I don't see why you would go to the extreme of cancelling your order. Sticking it to the man? -
Ordered mine on 7/22 and now delayed to 8/20. Pretty upset but I think I am going to wait it out. can't beat what i am getting for the price.

Same here ordered on July 17 got to boxing stage wed than today got delayed to Aug 18 ship date. classes start the 25th probably won't have it in time. Just means a 3 hour drive to come get it when it comes in. Yea it sucks but I just have to deal with it. couldn't get the same config with accident and theft protection for the price.

I was fed up with Dell on this too- I had mine ordered on the 17th of July and they delayed it until the 8th of August. After reading the complaints littered across the internet about heavy delays, I knew it wouldn't get to me in time for school on the 25th. After two days of e-mails back and forth, I told them thanks for being unreliable and to just cancel my order. I searched around for something else, and could've gotten pretty much anything, but my heart was still set on the Studio 15. I even went down to Staples, hoping they'd have one, but all I got was a teaser- all they had left was a display laptop :'(
So I ended up just ordering from Bestbuy no more than two days ago and it's already shipped out. I know I'm taking a huge risk by gambling with the devil that is Bestbuy, but dammit at least they can get their products out of the store. -
I ordered mine on the 21st and just got another delay. Whats unfortunate is, last night the revised estimated ship date was the 14th after the delay and then today its the 18th. I think its because I didn't give them the consent or whatever until today, but I didn't realize it would be so simple. Oh well I knew it would get delayed so at this point I'm looking at it like the estimated ship date doesn't mean anything and I'm just waiting for it to be finished so its gonna be done when its done and that's it.

Ordered mine on the 21st and its now delayed until the 11th...I have a feeling I wont receive it on the 13th. Currently looking at macs, but not really ready to pull the trigger.

Actually I just cancelled my Studio 15 order as well and ordered an XPS 1530 instead using that 25% off coupon (I assume it is the same one, I saw it on gotapex.com).
I'm not sure if the shipping will be any better on the XPS, probably not, but with that 25% off coupon I configured a system with better specs (especially the graphics card, though, yes, I'm aware of the potential Nvidia 86x issues) than the Studio 15 I had ordered and the XPS is actually about $100 less.... still have the LED LCD, too. -
All you guys, PLEASE cancel your Studio 15 orders... so mine can float up to the top of the stack!

There doesn't seem to be any consistency with the ordering and delay in shipments.
I ordered mine 21/7, was given a shipping date of 14/8. It arrived on the 25th. Backlit keyboard, LED screen, 3450, Jet black etc etc.
There seem to be people on here from the UK with near identical configs that ordered later and have ship dates running into Septmeber. -
I don't think its procrastination if you order a month and a half in advance of school. That's why I ordered that early, just in case there were any delays....hopefully it will get here b4 school, but I'm tired of stressin over it.

Well, I'm not a college student and I don't really have any specific deadline by which I need my laptop. I fully understand why they are backlogged at this time of year and giving out initial estimated shipping dates that are as much as a month out, but that still doesn't excuse them then missing those dates multiple times and being pretty much an information black hole, not letting you even know about the delays until the day your order is supposed to ship (or even later in some cases).
It turns out that I'm actually glad for my delay, though, because like I said in another post due to a better coupon deal I actually just ordered an XPS M1530 with much better specs than the Studio 15 I had on order and I'm paying over $100 less for the M1530. -
Hey, I wanted to order mine early... but the state tax-free holiday wasnt until this past weekend (July 31st-August 3rd)...now Im stuck here knowing that I wont have it the first two weeks of school. Estimated Arrival date: September 3rd!!!
Waiting patiently... Hopefully itll be worth it. -
I'm not a student either. It took me some time to do a little research, save up some extra funds and then finally decide on this computer. The reason I'm in such a hurry is because my desktop is showing signs of possibly dying soon and I needed something to replace it with. That's my main concern for the delays. I just don't want to be stuck without internet access at home for the next month while Dell keeps pushing my shipment date back.

It really sucks that there aren't as many good dell deals in canada as there are in the US....I would definitely switch to the M1530 if I could get better specs and for cheaper than a delayed studio 15

Wow, I don't know who to believe. I spoke to CS rep on dell chat yesterday, and they told me my studio 15 would be delayed at least 10 business days from yesterday. Then today I check my order status, and it says that it shipped this morning!....I'll let you know how this turns out.

I'd personally believe the order status. Dell reps seem to know nothing about individuals' order statuses except for what shows up on a computer screen(in other words, they know what we know, nothing more nothing less). Call Dell again and ask if a tracking number went out.

This is a legitimate thread in my opinion. People may need their laptops within a certain time frame, and they should be aware of major delays people are getting. I don't know see you posted the same thing in 2 threads.

I posted the same thing in two threads because they're about the same thing. I think you guys have made it clear enough in those two threads that there is a delay period with the studio 15. All it is now are people complaining about it and saying they're cancelling their orders... not a very constructive thread to me.

It doesn't need to be closed. The "Delay" threads for the Studio 15 (or 17) should be merged and stickied. Closing the thread would just result in somebody else making a new thread.

So I guess its comin from the states, but does that mean there are no Dell manufacturing plants in Canada? Anyways, for those who keep gettin delayed, hang in there. I would throw up pics of mine when it comes, but its Jet-Black, and i think there are some jet black pics up already. But if ppl want i'll still throw em up when i get it. -

Seriously, some people can't wait dude. Lemme rephrase that, "wait any longer". Some people have school in the following 2 weeks and can't put up with Dell's delay bull**** anymore. Some people ordered their laptops in early and mid July and STILL have not received them or any compensation for their inconvenience. Also when they ordered them THERE WAS NO DELAY. This isn't being impatient over some stupid usb drive that was delayed two days. These are laptops worth hundreds to thousands of dollars that were paid for and the supplier is too busy fartin around and misleading their customers. -
Yeah I agree in more ways than one. If Dell is going to give us a revised shipping date, at least make it accurate. Don't get us excited by telling us it will only be a week longer when it turns out to actually be a month. I am highly doubting my laptop will ship on Tuesday which is the first revised shipping date. It is still in the build stage, no signs of boxing

Thats how they get you though. If all business' were like this, they would all have to be shut down. You can't tell your customers your product is in stock and a week later tell them..."Oh we are sorry but we have to delay your order because we are too stupid to have computer parts on hand during our busiest time of the year" -
I've been following the thread since I ordered my Dell, and I wanted to pass on some hope. I talked to customer service and they said that they have the keyboards in and they are ready to ship. I just got an email today saying that mine had shipped and should arrive tomorrow.
I ordered on 7/19 and my last est ship date was supposed to be 8/14. I hope you all hear something soon. -
This is why I advised people (specifically those going off to college) to just bite the bullet and take the Bestbuy offer, or even Staples. Sure, the display and video card weren't that great (and no FP reader or back-lit keyboard), but everything else was top notch. 320gb HDD, 4gb RAM, T8100 (okay, that's not top-notch, but it is better). And not dealing with Dell's bs directly.
It's like that feeling you get when your dealing with somebody you know is ****ing you over. Like a used car dealership or mechanic. Sure, Bestbuy's service isn't exactly the greatest, but if you have a slightly above cursory knowledge of computers, you shouldn't need help beyond hardware malfunctions. -
I think mines will be here 2morrow! I ordered on the 26th and I was supposed to get it on the 7th. I then got a revised ship date of the 12th with a delivery date of the 14th.
Dell obviously overestimated everything so I would feel like I was getting things earlier when in all actuality it was still late lol...
I'm just excited it will likely be here 2morrow since it is only about 2 hours away! -

Idk I feel like its gonna take some getting use to though. I loved my e1505 and I was so used to it. The studio is completely different.
Still, overall I know I got a better machine than the inspiron. I want to remove the bloatware stuff but I'm scared I may mess something up lamo. -
Looks like mine shipped yesterday after nearly a month of waiting. Got a tracking number and everything. It should arrive today, if DHL doesn't screw up. *crosses fingers*
