Im going to undervolt my laptop soon and i need some tips or recommended settings people have used ?

Take it down one notch at a time, test for stability, then take it down more. Each processor is slightly different.
-
this is what i have mine set on and i have no problems at all. i only undervolt when im on battery though.
-
One person's results with a given processor don't indicate anything about what someone else can achieve though.
-
BINGO!
If people would but read the first page of the undervolting thread fully, they would understand this. -
I can't get this to install on Win 7 64 bit, problems with driver signatures?
-
Look into a program called Ready Driver Plus - it basically disables the driver signing re-inforcement at boot. You can do this manually yourself, press F8 a couple of times when booting and then when the boot options display, chose disable driver signing. It's a pain to do it manually every time though, ready driver plus does it for you.
Also, again, if you read through the undervolting thread first few posts fully, you'll see there is a link to a 64bit driver; this should work with Windows 7 x64 I believe, even without disabling driver signing. Don't quote me on that though. -
I will. Works fine.

hey cool thread guys! this is exactly what I was looking for, although I am an HP user. I like having this thread that is p8700 specific (see sig)
I am going to be undervolting my processor in a few days but before I do im obviously asking questions and doing my research before going at it blindly.
doesnt the p8700 use half multipliers? meaning that rmclock cannot undervolt this processor without downclocking it? -
Yes the P8700 uses half multipliers, 266MHz x 9.5 = 2.53GHz (ok, so it's not exactly that, but close enough)
I think CPUGenie allows you to use half multipliers, but can't remember fully. You can always give it a go, but it is a paid for solution (you can use the free trial to test it though).
Make sure you read this thread - it gives a lot of information on undervolting - though reading all of it would take an age, you should at least try to read the first page of posts:

CPUGenie is frigging 15 bucks o.o..And spending 15 bucks in this small utility isn't a wise idea
-
I like to convert it to how long it would take me to earn that at work, and $15 would take me about 30 minutes to earn. Not a lot in the slightest, unless you don't work or earn minimum wage - then I guess it would be different.

hey so my laptop finally shipped in and I got some time to play with the P8700 undervolting. I used cpugenie and I really like it, it has a lot of good reliable options to let the software find and test the lowest voltage possible for your system.
My numbers actually came out really low. Stock with 1.137v my laptop was 140F under load and I was able to safely underclock to 1.000v and my new load temp was 129F. Not the biggest drop I have seen on the board by any means, but its already an extremely cool laptop by comparison. -
But does CPUgenie run in window background ? I already dont like the fact that RM clock is running and minimized to the traybar, are there any other alternates to this
-
The numbers in that screenshot (thanks!) work well for my ASUS G50VT-X6 (P8700 CPU) but it seems to block the Exteme Turbo mode overclock...

Hi guys, I didn't have 1555 but I have M1340 with the same processor.
Here is what I set:
Remember to check the "mobile" in Advanced CPU setting->CPU TYPE in order to achieve lower voltage.
I tested it in full speed processing with HyperPI and it seems stable. I also played "borderlands" with 1280x800 high texture setting and it didn't crash.
Well this is only my personal experience so if u wanna try u should know the risk.
Any Studio 1555 P8700 undervolt settings recommended ?
