Overall, im thinking of getting the Vostro since it is about 30 dollars cheaper and is lighter and smaller then the Inspiron. any thoughts? I dont care about hard drive space or win 7 since im going to install my owe OS on it

What kind of differences are you thinking about? Obviously the physical characteristics are going to be different, but the specs are more or less comparable. I doubt you'd notice a speed difference between the two in general use.

One difference that i see is that inspiron has a 64 bit OS while other has a 32 bit OS.
So if you plan to upgrade your ram to more than 4 gb in future that it would be useful or else go with the vostro

And what warrenties do you get on those

Not sure about the latest Inspirons, but in the past Vostros have had better build quality, but poor quality speakers.

You could always just just reinstall Windows in 64 bit flavor...

Do the Vostros have matte screens? That would be a deal breaker for me.
