Mines is still in production so I can't test it, but does anyone have any problems leaving their laptop on 24/7? College is starting soon and since I'll be dorming, there really isn't much point to turning it off.

If I were you, I would turn it off if you're not going to be using for extended periods of time; just like people need to "shut down", so do computers. And it's not like it takes an hour for it to turn back on.

I haven't shut down my PC since... hell, I don't even remember, I basically don't turn it off unless I gotta restart for some reason, even though it might be a good idea.

i've had my dell desktop for like.. 5 years. and i rarely shut it off unless i need to restart. shocking... isn't it? lol

I have some notebooks at work that have been on for a about 4 years now with all power saving features disabled (the notebooks get used for remote desktop and server terminal access). Never seen one fail, so I would not worry about it. A lot of people with desktop replacement notebooks turn them on and leave them on.

That's why people invested so much time in inventing things like suspend. It takes only seconds to suspend or come out of suspend. I suspend even my desktops to ram every day with UPS backup i.e. they get switched off at least twice a day on working days. One of them even runs linux. Both of them have uptimes which run into months.
Its always good for the computers to shut down when not needed. That helps keep earth green.
Ohh, you shouldn't have any problems with keeping them up for long times if you so chose! -
Using an abacus instead would help even more! -
But a computer looks good on me... -
I run a weather station on mine so it has to be on 24/7 or data gets missed. My 4 year old Dell Desktop has never been switched off and I hope the laptop that's replacing it will be able to do the same. An added bonus is that the laptop will use much less power and save me some money on my electricity bill!

In some cases, I suppose it is necessary to leave the computer on 24/7. But it's not something I'd go around recommending. If I were you, I would just turn it off when you're not using it. That's what I'm going to do with mine, anyway.

Its fine, mines been running since I got it, temps were fine, but I got the Zalman cooler just to keep the noise down at night. Computers are made to run 24/7. It'll be fine
Any problems with the 1520s on 24/7?
