    Anyone got their vostro?

    I ordered a vostro 1500 (performance package) last night. The estd. shipping date is 8/9/07. Why is it taking that long to build a vostro? Did anybody order before and have their notebook shipped already? The order status says " production stage". I guess that the production takes no more than 10 days.

    No one has received it. I think the best anyone has right now is in-production. I bought mine 7 days ago and its still in pre-production.

    thats not good. If you are in 'build stage' and im in 'pre production stage' its only fair to say yours will ship before mine and yet my ship date is the 31st. Im getting nervous. If I don't have it before the 6th I will have to cancel and buy a lappie off the shelf.

    If you are refering to the website it will say in production but may be in pre production. You need to call 1-800-433-9014 and it will tell you the actual status.

    I ordered the 1500 literally 10 minutes after it went live, and as of yesterday, the laptop was still in Pre-Production. So you'll probably be waiting a while.

    Since the Vostro can ship with Windows Xp...which means it needs the XP drivers to work...will Dell put up all of the the windows xp drivers on the website soon!?!? I need them badly for inspiron 1520...

    LMAO, you guys think the build stage only lasts no more then 10 days. That's ate up. My laptop went into build stage on June 29th and has been there since.

    it was in pre-production maybe a couple hours, then by 2 am on the 29th in went into build stage and I just received a phone call my laptop has been delayed YET AGAIN. God, I am so sick of Dell at this point. Not going to elaborate here, check other posts if you wanna know why.

    i have a theory here: dell might have opened up the orders early to see how much traffic (or better put, how many orders) they can be expecting for the new models, and then ordering parts accordingly so they won't have one particular part over stocked if no one wants it. they can also then adjust options/prices to meet demand.

    this is just a theory to why ship times have been so long.

    I called and spoke with a very nice rep and I asked her to explain the process and why it takes 30 days to get a laptop to my door. She checked into it and she said as of right now there is no shortage of anything on my order and everything is in stock. She couldn't explain why it's been 'pre production' for 7 days. But she also said I should receive my order much sooner than aug 7th. I sure hope she's right.

    they were just calling to tell me that my dell is going into "production" tomorrow. Does that mean they start building it? lol.

    I dont know if this matters but for my replacement 1520 they told me there is a shortage on the 1280 x 800 lcd panels . Mine was supposed to be shipped out today but hasnt.

    So take that with a grain of salt.

    Phone order status says "Pre production stage". But the dell online order status states " In Production". Which is true? Are vostros assembled in the U.S. or China?

    I keep saying this. Build is the stage where all the orders are getting delayed.

    They are having supply problems with the lcd panels .

    W00T! My Vostro went from pre-production to in production somewhere between 9:30 am EST and 10:31 am EST!!!!!!! :D

    I ordered it on the night of July 12, so it took a little less than a week to go from pre-production to in production. Now lets hope production doesn't take too long.

    imo the "build" stage probably doesn't even mean its being built yet. just that its in queue to be built, and if they don't have your screen you'll stay in built stage until it comes in.
