A friend has a Studio 1536 with the AMD based board. His laptop is not under warranty so he will only buy from Dell as a last resort. If anyone knows where he can purchase the Studio 1536 motherboard that would be great. Thanks!![]()

I see one 1536 motherboard on eBay.com

This is the only one I could find:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Dell-Studio-15-...hash=item380107673893&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177
But it's listed as "1535/1536". It can't be both. :/
And how does a Studio 1536 have expired warranty already? They weren't even selling them over a year ago, were they?

Lol. I don't know. That's just what he told me. That motherboard is for a Studio 1535. It's the same one I bought. Thanks for trying, I guess he'll be forced to buy from Dell.

Is it possible to use a 1535 board to replace a 1536 board? Isn't the chassis the same for all Studio 1535/1536/1537?
I seem to recall someone here on NBR had a 1536 and put in his own 1535 board from ebay because the AMD chip ran too warm though he probably needed to buy a new processor.
Note: Not suggesting you do that unless you really know what's going on and are 100% certain the compatibility. -
That is what I personally did but hes more of an AMD person. In my case the 1536 screw setup and frame worked out perfectly for the 1535 motherboard. According to the service manual, there are different screw configurations. I guess it depends when you bought it. He was able to undervolt his processor significantly bringing down the temperatures, whereas, I couldn't for the life of me get it to work. He'll just buy from Dell when he can afford it.

Oh, awesome. I was remembering and telling you of your experience the whole time.

One of those is the v2 motherboard but not sure if that means 1536 or just a revised 1535... -
Haha. I wasn't sure if you were talking about me or not.
Thanks for the link, he'll have to call and find out. Sheesh, those are pricey. -

Yeah, but the $15 one can't be right either...got to be something other than the 1535 system board!
Anyone know where one can purchase the AMD Studio 15 motherboard?
