Today is the second day owning my Vostro 1500. So far, I luvs it.![]()
I purchased Vista Home Premium with the system, but want to upgrade to 64-bit Home Premium. I understand that I need the 64-Bit Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD. Since I don't have a DVD burner, my only option is to purchase the DVD. Does anyone know where I can order the DVD online or purchase in-store? I tried ordering it through the Microsoft website, but the key from the bottom of my laptop was rejected.
I've been searching for the last couple hours but can't find anywhere to order it.![]()

We can't anymore
. Ask a friend who has a burner, or you might try to contact Dell.

Call Dell Customer Service.

How much are 64-bit discs from them?

So what you are saying is Dell quit sending out anytime upgrade discs with their systems? Too bad. And MS does not sell them either?
But just to let you know, MS never uses disc protection that I am aware of. They use validation etc... instead. So yes you can copy a vista anytime disc etc.. Its against the terms of the disc to do this but MS mainly is concerned that you have a key tied to your system. You might try calling them (phone validation) since that key is already tied to the 32 bit version. As long as your processor can handle 64 bit it should work. -
If dell quit sending out the anytime upgrade discs then I seriously doubt they will sell them. They may sell you a system restore disc.. but that won't work for a clean install. But when compusa was selling them they were only 5 bucks. The anytime upgrade disc used to come with dell systems for free. I know HP does not like people doing clean install.. they get money to put all the bloatware on the desktop. Maybe dell is doing the same now?

the anytime upgrade disc is not for OEMs. I dont think anyone sold computers with that. You can BUY a new license and get the disc. The 32 bit home premium license OEM will not work for a 64 bit install

I am pretty sure Lenovo/IBM did.
You can still get the needed files to burn to a DVD (search this board, one of the stickies in the HP forums has all the needed information), but since you do not have a DVD burner you should ask a friend or a family member to help you out. -
well bottom line... dell didnt or doesnt
Attempting to install 64-Bit Vista on my Vostro 1500, where can I get a Anytime Upgrade DVD?
