Backlit keyboard on 14z

Hi I just ordered a inspiron 14z, and the final order description is a little unclear as to whether or not they got my order right... can someone verify if they included the backlit computer or whether or not it would show up in this description? Thanks!

I ordered the same computer last night in red with a backlit keyboard and had the exact same question. I asked the chat rep and they were unable to tell me so I am going to call them this morning.

 

When I ordered my 15z it specificly said 'Keyboard - English Backlit'

I cannot believe all the bloatware Dell in putting on their systems now!

 

Yeah, it's a good reason to go really cheap on the hard drives and use the 500gb/750gb 7200rpm HDD or a solid state alternative with Windows 7 Home Premium. It's just better to invest a single really long lasting hard drive then it is to pay an extra 35%-40% for a drive that's worth much less.

 

Well I called the order modification number and they assured me even though it does not indicate a backlit keyboard in my order summary I did indeed order a backlit keyboard and that is what is being delivered.

2 nights ago I try to order a Dell Inspiron 14z online.The build info says Backlit Keyboard: Standard English. I go to print the specs and it says "standard english" so I call. They say "although it is confusing, it is a standard keyboard." Are you kidding me?? So I ask the rep to build me a computer with a Backlit keyboard...but he couldn't because of the floods in Thailand the keyboards are not available. The rep was awesome! He tried to upgrade me to XPS 14z w/ backlit but keep the price close to the price of the Inspiron 14z...BUT HE COULDN'T find even 1 with a backlit keyboard!

Second part of story...I ordered the Dell XPS 15 in July, 2011. Build said Backlit keyboard but the printed specs said standard. The computer came with the backlit keyboard....great! I spilled coffee into the keyboard and it had to be replaced. The tech come to the house and replaced it with a standard keyboard. I called Dell today to say I want this remedied. They reply that I ordered a standard keyboard. Why all this confusion with the Backlit keyboard? They should just write it correctly online.

Interestingly, I was able to order a Dell XPS 15 Backlit Keyboard for $34.95 with free shipping today!
