I know these are stupid questions, but:

    1) What is the best way to clean a Vostro Glare screen, without leaving streaks. Windex and dish soap don't seem to work very well.

    2) My vostro doesn't have fingerprints, but it does have smears. on the lid, i.e. small areas that are shiny on the satin finish. What is the best way to remove those. Once again, Windex and dish soap does not seem to help. It just streaks more.

Use the lint free cloth or a soft cloth which you get with spectacles. I use that and it works well.
This is assuming you usually take care of the screen and it has minimal dust/prints/scratches.

About the lid, I am not sure. Try a moistened soft cloth.

I use the yellow microfiber cloths (from Costco) and the aerosol glass cleaner (again ,from Costco) to clean practically anything computer related. It cleans the tops of my Vostro's and the Truelife screens on all my computers perfectly, and never with a streak or residue.

Microfiber cloths never scratch and do an excellent job of removing dirt, dust and fingerprints.
