    Hi all,

I'm a bit confused about the different video cables available. I want to watch movies from my 1420 on my HDTV. However, the TV is a bit old.

The TV DOES NOT have VGA, HDMI (DVI)

The TV DOES have S-Video, Component, Composite.

So my question is, how can I get the best quality video on my TV?

My 1420 has S-Video and VGA outputs. But S-Video isn't very good quality right? And I'd need a separate cable for sound?

    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

    Hi,

I have an Insprion 1420 and a Toshiba Regza HDTV that I wish to interconnect. Here are the available options -

    Notebook OUT: VGA, S-Video
    TV IN: VGA, HDMI, S-Video.

In this case, what would be my best options to connect both Audio and Video on these two? I figured VGA might be better than S-Video, but then what exact cable should I be looking for to buy online? Also, what kind of Audio cable?

    Thanks!
    SD

sdeshpan...the best option in your case would be VGA to the HDTV. You'll need a VGA cable to connect your 1420 to the TV and then depending on your TV's audio input mated to the VGA input you'll need a mini-jack to mini-jack audio cable or mini-jack to RCA. Most likely mini to mini is what you'll need. You will simply use the headphone output to get audio to the TV.
