Ok so I have had my new 9400 for almost 2 days now and I am having trouble.
I still cant get w2k3 to work but that is a different thread this time I have a question about cpu usage. Mine is running with both procs sitting at about 43% usage all the time. Spoolsv.exe is the largest usage of cpu but I don’t have any printers hooked up and I never have on this machine.
Here is what I have done.
I wiped out the single partition that had windows on it and rebuilt it clean.
Installed the basic driver set from dell.
Installed the Xtreem g mobile force drivers
    installed cod 2
    installed all the windows updates
    3dmark 2k5

After I noticed the strange problem with the cpu usage I also installed my av prog. any ideas what could be making this run so high? Or any good tools I could use to find out?

Yeah, it shouldn't be running that high.

I suggest to go in our dummy articles forum, and there is a thread on how to optimize your system. You might try turning off some of window services.

I forgot something off my list of software I installed and that was causing the problem. I installed alcohol 120% and daemon tools as part of a standerd load of windows and something about running daemon tools and alcohol 120% caused it to run high CPU load for about 45 minutes after boot and then it returned to normal. I uninstalled and then reinstalled daemon tools and the problem went away.

that's good to hear. I was thinking of a couple of window services that has done that to me. They'll cause my system to run at 100% though.
