Hi, dont get me wrong I am so happy, I have just received my Pink Dell Inspiron 1525 and I am so happy YAY!!!! :) :) :) BUT! I have a problem. First, I dont know how to charge the battery up on my Laptop. I have plugged my laptop in the mains and still it says my battery is low and there are no signs of it charging...am I doing something wrong?

Second..the key 'F3' which has the little battery on..when I click on it, a page comes up with something to do with google..and the key 'F1' with the sleep image on does not put her to sleep  :( So does this mean something is wrong with her? :(

Third, I am new so a little bit shy but anxious to sort out these problems, dont bite me  ;) I am no expert when it comes to computers.... :(

    Thankyou for your time.

    Beckie, London England :)

The keys you're talking about on your keyboard that have the sleep button, battery button ect are called Function Buttons. For them to work you have to hold down the FN key on your keyboard and press a Funtion Key like Sleep or Batt ect.

About your batt charging. I think that it automatically charges when your computer is plugged in. But with windows vista I'm not sure if somethings different. I know that with win xp all you have to do is have the laptop plugged into the power outlet to charge the batt.

Sounds like you might have a bad power brick, your battery should automatically charge when plugged in. Turn the laptop upside down, there is a little slide switch that you move over, perhaps two, and then the battery will slide out the back. Press the little battery icon on it and see how many out of 5 LEDs light up, which indicate charge level. Then try putting the battery back in and see how it goes.

But based on the rubber band thing, I am going to say loose power socket or bad power brick, depends where exactly you put the rubberband. I'd call Dell ASAP.

If you had to put a rubber band around it, the power adapter could be the wrong one (as in size, so it's not making flush contact) or you could even have a bad power jack on the laptop.
