Curiosities Sake. Anyone order a Spring Green Inspiron?

Mine is supposedly shipping this thursday We'll see what happens. If it gets delayed i think i'm going to cancel it and buy a sony cr. I know some of you have waited even longer than I have, but i'm tired of waiting. Even though I got a pretty good deal (paid $820), I really do need a laptop soon so I'm going to have to pay more.

Edit: congrats Shiznitz21. Good to hear that they are shipping out the green laptops.

 

I'm in the same boat, I might not even get mine until September! Arrrggghhh!

 

Checked my order status online today. Real interesting.

Dell only ships here using next business day shipping, that is the only option available for any zipcode in this state. Anyway, they now have my order listed as 3-5 business day shipping. Isn't that interesting.

I've been promised compensation for the delay once this order ships. The latest line Dell CSR has given me is that he will call when this order ships and we'll discuss compensation then. Yeah right! That "SUCKER" sticker on my forehead really needs to come off. LOL

 

Hello, I've ordered a Spring Green 1720, have you received yours yet?

 

I have ordered a Spring Green too. Waiting as well as everyone. Hopefully I will hear a different stage when I call the automated lady. I am sick of hearing build. Plus if I am supposed to get the machine on 08/28 like everyone else it needs to move to some other stage soon.

 

So, I see that there have been a few Spring Greens that have shipped or are about to the shipped. That's good to hear. I'm almost motivated to finally call Dell to see what's happening with my computer. But since my luck sucks, I'm sure I would hear something like "order was canceled" or "kitting". And that would be a let down. I guess I'll just wait it out until 8-28, hopefully I won't have to actually wait that long.

 

Poo... i was delayed today. gotta wait another week. oh well... at least i got a little compensation from it, heh.

 

I ordered one too. I really love the Spring Green color. I really don't love having to wait so long for it. I keep calling the dell number, hoping to hear something other than BUILD. Right now I just keep reading the forums, hoping that someone who ordered just a day or two before me will say that theirs is in boxing or has shipped. That would mean (hopefully) that mine wouldn't be too much longer. But, for now, I guess I am just impatiently waiting.

 

I just called Dell the other day to complain. I got upgraded shipping to next day and he said that they will call me when I get my order to give me a $50 coupon. I don't know if they actually will though.

 

They probally will. They did both with me ($100 instead of $50 but no biggie, I am not buying from them again). It is semi-meaningless if you don't get the actual product for two months.

 

Ok, strange sequence of events. Basically, I called the automated order number knowing that my laptop was still going to be in the build stage. Anyhow, while waiting, I basically ignore the woman knowing what she's going to say and hum a song while I am multitasking at work. Somehow I get sent to a Tech Rep for Small Biz who is in AMERICA!

Rather than transfer me, he decides to help me out and actually answer my questions. When he looks up my order he basically laughs out loud when he sees I have ordered the 1720 Spring Green and he tells me it has no chance of making the 8/28 date because of the color, por supuesto. Also, as the common refrain in this saga goes, the only ones shipping out in a timely fashion are the Alpine White and Jet Black. After friendly questioning and informative answers, he tells me that a realistic time for someone with my order date, system, and color choice is mid-September, no earlier, and to expect the same for people with similar color choices because the light colors are being completed slowly.

So there you have it. If you are waiting on a Spring Green 1720 and ordered at about 7/20 or later, expect to wait until at least mid-September.

so is this going to apply to green 1520's as well cause if that's so i probably won't get mine till October....BLAH!!... i tried calling this morning, and got a message saying there was a meeting call back in an hour. Are they meeting to come up with new ways to lie to us???

Ok...i finally got through...and to my great surprise my order is only delayed b/c of the color!!!...but i don't care too much...when i do receive it, it will be gorgeous...oh..and she bumped me up to next day shipping for free..although from what i've heard that doesn't mean much.

for anyone who ordered a green 1420 notebook, according to the dell website there is no delay on the color. Hopefully this means that I'll get my laptop soon.

 

That's good news for the 1420s, but the 1520/1521s still have an 11 day delay. Guess that's better than the 15 day delay it was at. Also, the 1720s show a 2 day delay, and the 1721s show a 1 day delay.

 

I know!! I just saw that!! Delays only for red, pink & yellow!!

But they are still delays for the LCD 2 days for the anti-glare wide screen and 1 day for the glossy one.

I just got off the phone with the Dell lady to have the status om my green machine, she said beginning of September. I told her I received an email saying that it would ship the 27th of August, she said:"Oh... maybe yes" ???

Anyway apparently it takes 3-4 days to get to Canada and 3 more days to get to Quebec...

Makes me happy that I don't live in Alaska...

 

I have recieved my labtop today. Good luck for everyone. It delayed once. initial ESD was 8/20. delayed one was 8/28

I finally made it into boxing. Someone pinch me so I know I am not dreaming. I was in shock to hear the lady say boxing. I had to repeat it. Maybe I will make the 8/28 date after all.

 

Oh good, I ordered my 1521 on 7/14 also. Maybe mine will go into boxing soon.
