    Hello everybody,

I am new here. I have spilled beer on my laptop. It turned off and i could not turn it back on, I removed battery, AC adapter and after 1 week I start with drying ( I have drying it about 4 days). I still can not turn it on. Power button wont light on.

I saw the thread about it there, but I dont know it was similar problem. On first image I show beer area.

Ive removed covers and 2nd image show there is also dried beer on motherboard, I red there is a way to clean it with rubbing alcohol. Is that true ? Or what can you advise me please ? Should I order new MB + keyboard ?

Iv'e always been told to use baking soda mixed with water to clean circuit boards. Not sure if this applies for computer's but it does for radio equipment and most other electronics. wait for someone else to chime in before you try this but I mix it to a paste then scrub the board with a tooth brush and the paste.

You should have flipped the laptop over as soon as you spilled the beer. That way you could have avoided having residue on the delicate parts of the laptop. The beer could have caused permanent damage to your motherboard. But nevertheless, try gixer2000's solution.

Scraping off the residue is definitely worth a shot. I've saved at least one water damaged motherboard with a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. Sadly more often than not it doesn't work, though.

    Thanks for every reply.

Ive tried many ways how to revive my laptop, but nothing helped.

Also I want tell about great support of DELL in our country. Firstly : asked for price for new motherboard + keyboard, it was around 350 euro.
But there is one thing, if I want to change it home, I will lose a warranty for my product. So they provided me 150 euro diagnostics, and if I accept it, warranty can countinue. But on diagnosis they can find many other problems ... So if I want warranty I need to play 500+ euro for my spilled laptop... No comment for this. Its almost price of a new laptop with same performance.

Ive also offered to give them my spilled laptop for spare parts or for second hand sale and I will buy a new one from them with some discount.. But still nothing only pay 500 + or full price for a new laptop ... no any discount.

    F**k them !
