I have a Dell Inspiron 6000...my old battery the computer no longer recognizes but when I unplug from ac power I get about 20 minutes of use but the LED light is orange and I have no idea how much charge there is.

So I bought a new battery...the computer recognizes it and it says 100% charged but whenever I unplug from ac power the laptop instantly dies.

It all seems completely backwards. Any ideas?

Is the new battery you bought a real dell battery or is it a cheap knock off?
