Ouch
What stage was it in?

-
"Boxing" for 8 business days. (13 days total) ... oy.
-
Mine is due here today!!!!!
Too bad the UPS drives up and down the street like 3x a day but never stops at my house until after 6pm.
Good luck.. I hope you get yours soon -
I'm having problems with my m1710 order
After getting an estimated delivery date of July 7th i called them to see what was going on.
First I was told that one of the parts is no longer in production and i would need to cancel the order and remake it. I was then told that one of the parts is delayed for a number of weeks. Eventually they cancelled and remade the order over the phone (exact same order with the same parts)
I was told that my order will definitely be processed today and take 8-10 days but when i got home from work the online tracker says my order has delayed and i need to contact them however they're closed until tomorrow.
Has anyone had any experiences like this? -
Yup, I posted in a different thread as I was told it was an issue with the canadian website only... I'm not sure where you are, but I was told that the Norton Antivirus component b0rked on the website and orders were coming up with "Part Number Not Found", even though the norton component exists. The website was royally screwed up aparently. They told me the same thing, that my order will be reissued under a different order number. They said they'd call me back when it was done... 4 hour later and I'm still waiting...
Ravlen -
Well i'm in the UK. Any uk people having any problems?
I really hope they fix this soon -
Thinking of cancelling my order and order from another brand, just hard to get that battery life with-out getting high in price or getting a very slow graphic-card...

Check this out ...
06/05/2006 02:21:03PM Agent: "Jason, I have checked the details for you and see that your order have been delayed as any one of the items had been backordered."
06/05/2006 02:21:24PM Agent: "However, I see that now your order have reached the boxing stage."
06/05/2006 02:21:40PM Agent: "The boxing of the system generally takes 2-3 business days. Your order is still in the boxing stage. After it is boxed, it takes 1-2 days for the systems to be transported to the local UPS Stores from where they are shipped out."
06/05/2006 02:21:43PM Me: "My order has been in boxing for the last 12 days."
06/05/2006 02:22:07PM Agent: "Please note that the Boxing stage is the final stage of the order after which the carrier picks up the order for shipment to our customers. During this stage, all components of the order are tested one last time for quality, efficiency and durability so t"
06/05/2006 02:22:21PM Agent: "At this stage, if any of the items on order are found to be defective in anyway, the order will have to go through rigorous testing and quality analysis once again. When the order is finally cleared as OK for shipment, the carrier will then be notified to"
06/05/2006 02:22:56PM Agent: "So I see that there may have been some issue at this stage."
06/05/2006 02:23:25PM Agent: "However, I assure you that every effort is being made to expedite your order."
06/05/2006 02:24:00PM Agent: "I will also place a special request to deliver your order as soon as possible."
06/05/2006 02:24:51PM Me: "So what you are telling me is that the computer did not pass QA and found to have a defective part which is currently backordered ?"
06/05/2006 02:25:04PM Agent: "Yes"
06/05/2006 02:25:20PM Me: "This machine is to replace my laptop which died three weeks ago ... and I cannot affor another delay"
06/05/2006 02:26:15PM Me: "So there is no way to tell me exactly where the computer is now or how long this will take ?" 06/05/2006 02:27:24PM Agent (Parneet Bhangu): "Jason, I see that the estimated delivery date for this order is Tuesday, June 13, 2006."
06/05/2006 02:28:40PM Me: "This is not acceptable, I am very displeased with my level of service ... Especially because I knew there was an issue when this machine was in boxing for over 4 days and every rep I have spoken to ensured me that there was not an issue"
06/05/2006 02:28:56PM Me: "WELL ... there *WAS* an issue and no one told me ..." 06/05/2006 02:30:21PM Agent: "Jason, I really apologize for the inconvenience caused to you."
06/05/2006 02:31:14PM Agent: "I understand that you are frustrated because of this. However, I assure you that this is not depictive of the world class services provided by Dell."
06/05/2006 02:32:47PM ME: "Then WHY ... WHY would three seperate representatives tell me that there was not an issue ?!? ... Either they lied, did not perform their job to lookup the inofrmation, or your asset tracking needs some work"
06/05/2006 02:33:54PM ME: "If there was a parts issue I would expect to be notified of the delay BEFORE my quoted ship date came around." 06/05/2006 02:34:42PM Agent: "Jason, the best that I can do for you today is waive off the shipping charges for you."
---------------------------------
Blah Blah Blah ... long story short ... I vented some more and agreed to have the next-day shipping charges waived ...
WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
Do you think I should wait ... or cancel my order ? I don't even know what to think at this point ... -
For anyone that is having issues with their 1710/9400 order, I received a call today informing me that the Geforce 7800 has been discontinued and my order was cancelled. If you are in my position, make sure to cause a racket. I got my sales rep to upgrade to the 7900 for free and within 3 hours, it was put into production. Don't be quiet. Let them have it! (Mind you, it's the 3rd time my order has been cancelled in 2 weeks.)
-
Well i've just got another email from dell telling my my order has been rebooked for a 3rd time and still i've not been told what they're doing.
Really starting to get annoyed with all this hassle now -
my e1505 was supposed to be deliverd today but someone signed for it at the dock and ups wont contact me about it..
basicly its gone for good... -
Order mine on sunday......and it shipped in two days....should be at my house tomorow, or probably thursday...I thinks its sitting in a ups truck as I type this, Im so anxious....I let you guys know if it arrives tomorow...
-
What are model/specs did you order ?
-
e1705
2.0 ghz dual core
80 gb hd
Nvidia GO 7900gs
cd/ dvd birner
extra 9 cell battery
512 ram (upgrading from new egg) -
JUst recieved notebook and and unhappy to say...the box had a hole in it....and the screen does not work....
-
Just thought I'd keep everyone informed ... and vent a little more. *STILL* has not shipped yet and remains in boxing. I did notice that the $80 bucks for shipping as credited from my order total ... they held up their end on that part. I noticed today that the T2500 (2GHZ Core Duo) which I ordered is on 7 day lead which may have something to do with this delay as well.
Ho Hum ... I think I'm past the Denial, Anger, and Bargaining ... I still feel kind of depressed and don't think I'll move onto acceptance until I see my order has shipped ... at least I can poke some humor at it all.
22 Days and Waiting in Seattle,

Have you called Dell lately? Seriously, it shouldn't be that long. It sounds like they've lost your laptop and are giving you the run around. Once your laptop is in boxing, the backorder on parts wouldn't matter.
-
I was told that "boxing" includes additional post-build testing before the unit is shipped, that there was in issue, and now there is a part on back-order.
Do you think that I am getting jerked around ?
I was going to tell them just to Cancel an then reorder, but now that the T2500 is on a 7 day lead ... I though I'd just wait it out until the end of the week and see if they actually ship the thing ... what do you think ? -
I just received my E1505 today and im LOVING IT.
SCREEN IS AWWWWWWWWSOMEEEEEEE
It had 70+ processes but i got it down to 60ish.
lol. i dont want to reformat -
-
What is the deal with everyone being scared about reformatting? Is there something that I'm missing.
It could be that there was a problem and your part is on backorder. I would have thought that they would have updated their system to reflect that though, but this is dell so i'm not sure. -
Spoke with a Dell agent yesterday, and he was saying my laptop would be delivered mid next week, guaranteed. He said he put a priority flag (whatever that means) on my order to make sure it gets shipped out ASAP.
I called today to verify this, the customer support agent I spoke to said that there was no priority flag on this order. That there was no way possible that my laptop will arrive next week, it will be at *least* into the week of the 19th. I explained to him what the previous agent told me, and how I'm going to be on a trans-pacific flight on June 18th and need the laptop WITH me on that flight. He said he saw no indication of this and that there's just no way I'm going to get it in time... which is directly contradicting what the other agent told me. He said next day shipping is not an option for my province in canada either (nova scotia)
Now, I don't want to sound prejudiced... but all the sales agents I've dealt with were east indian and seemed to not care whether or not what they said was true. They just wanted to say whatever would make me happy and get me off the phone, and never actually did anything they claimed they would. (IE: "No sir, there will be no delays, in fact I'll prioritize it so you get it earlier, due to the trouble we've put you through"... etc... etc... from multiple agents multiple times). Now, all the customer SUPPORT agents (who all sounded north american) seemed genuinely honest with me, told me directly what they thought was happening, what the delays would be, whether or not they thought I would get it in time. This last guy was basically "Look, if you need this in hand by the 16th or so, then I don't think you should go through with this order. It'd be too big a risk".
So, I'm likely going to cancel my order in an hour or two... I might call the sales agent again though, just to see what he says (I have his extension). In any case, I'm seriously dissapointed with the Dell "experience". The straight to my face lies have been too much for me to handle... The hardware itself looks top notch, but the service leaves much to be desired. -
Seeing that Dell had over 2500 orders to re-do because of the Norton/Geforce 7800 issue, I highly doubt they can process all of them 'priority'. I was, and still am being told the same thing; 'You'll get it next week, for sure'. When you are told something like that next time, make sure to take down the reps name. Your conversation might have been recorded. Get him on the line and confront him. Then, you might get better service.
-
All of these reorders, will they slow down other people's orders also, just because dell had issues, because I really need my laptop before I leave for my trip.

Hello,
Ordered my laptop on May 26...original estimated delivery date was June 2. This was moved back twice on the order status page twice to the 9th, then 12th before I eventually recieved that "Your order may have been changed...." message.
Now my order has been rebooked and the estimated delivery date is June 13...except when I asked about the status of my system the sales rep told me the system is either "in production or possibly in transit" and to expect my system within 12 to 15 business days??!!
What is going on here? -
I order a e1705 on the 6th and it went into production on the 6th and the schudule for shiping is the 14th but after reading here I wonder if that will hapen, today is still in produntion.
-
YES, it is in transit to local courior!!!! And I called them yesterday to get one day shipping!!!
-
I talked to Dell support on chat and had my order "Prioritized" and got free upgraded 1 day shipping. I ordered on the 4th, and am receiving it tomorrow on the 8th. It's only 80 miles from my house as we speak! =) let's hope everything is ok with it, GL to everyone with their notebooks!
-
Well, my order shiped today, but it has a rescheduled delivery date of 6/13. Dell told me I was upgraded to one day shipping, and the 13th isn't one day. And what is a rescheduled delivery date? I hope I get it tomorrow or Dell lied about upgrading the shipping...
-
Ordered Monday the 5th. Projected ship: 27th June.In Boxing phase right now.
-
orderded on 6/2 get laptop today 6/8 (with a free nextday shipping after talking with rep)
-
-

Delivery Estimate: Tuesday, June 06, 2006 - Thursday, June 08, 2006
This information is current as of Wednesday, June 07, 2006.
Order Processing: Monday, May 15, 2006
Pre-production: Monday, May 15, 2006
In Production:
Kitting
Build
Testing
Boxing
Shipping Prep: Thursday, June 01, 2006
Estimated Ship Date: Thursday, June 01, 2006
That's unbelievable... what the h*ck is going on? Anytime I call the have no idea what happen to my order... I'm getting so tired... -
If it hasn't gotten into production, you might want to verify that your payment option is correct. This has happened before if your credit card/debit card has a certain limit that can be charged a day. Usually dell will be able to tell you this, but you might ask dell and verify that your payment option went through.
-
Actually, it's in boxing (there are some copy/paste issues there).
I order on May 15th... was in pre-production until june 5th, now it's in boxing since then. I called Dell every day. It's strange that the estimated ship date is not updated as well I don't have "In production" date neither.
They block the amount on my credit card the day I order but now it's unblocked. I told them that and anybody (from every customer representative to my sales representative) knows why...
well... that's my nightmare with dell... -
trust me, i know all about the nightmares of dell - going through one right now.

*Laughing Histarically as I type this*
So, I get into work this morning and receive a call from Dell order support. I am trying my hardest to understand the broken English and what I get is "I'm sorry sir, but your order has been delayed". Ummm ... yeah ... 23 days later ... I finally get an answer (I don't know if it was the truth or not). "The screen for your E1405 is on backorder, we are expecting them in on or before June 12th."
So I explain how my order was already delayed and how I spoke to 3 diferrent people about this and no one could tell me what part(s) were on backorder for 23 days or why.
To which I got "I'm very sorry for your frustrations sir, but as I said we are to be receiving the parts within the next two to tree business days and you are at the top 5 people to be receiving your computer"
Well ... I cancelled my order.
I love Dell products, but OH MY GOD has their service gone down here. This was going to be my 4th Dell order.
Long story short, friend of friend ... I ordered an E1405 with the same specs and am having it overnighted for the same price I was going to pay (sans 1 gig ram ... which is no biggie, I can purchase that later).
So I will have my lappy tomorrow ... but very ... VERY dissapointed.
