Will you keep your laptop or send it back? Have you fixed the loose touchpad?

Do you guys know if I can put this ram into the notebook ?
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Hype...8&qid=1446140197&sr=1-3&keywords=ddr3l+sodimm
or is it compatible only with Hynix?? (the one already installed) -
Hi Ramzay,
Unfortunately I need a laptop for engineering. I think it will matter to me as I will be using some iterative and design soft wares .I have two questions for you. First,I am told that the default ram latency was 9-9-9-28 by dell personnel. Can you please confirm that.Secondly, is using a higher clock memory helping you as the processor memory clock limits at 1600 for ddr3l,1866 for lpddr3(different from ddr3l as i am told) and 2133 for ddr4. -
I'd like to go with the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD. Any comments pro or con about that choice?
-
I'm using the 500GB version of the Samsung works pretty good for me.
-
Looks like battery time may be better then was originally showing in Battery Bar. The run time is actually higher after letting it run for a bit on battery then it was when I first unplugged it. Admittedly other then having the screen on and wireless connected the machine isn't doing much, but it is showing 2:43 left after running for 42 minutes. The built in Windows Battery Meter may actually be more accurate for a change.

Has anyone gotten the Amazon model yet? Know if the SSD takes the m2 slot or the main bay?
-
According to a review on amazon and a previous post here, it takes the m.2 slot
-
You can ask dell support.
-
Just got the Amazon version today!
Impression after one day -
Had a couple hiccups at first. It likes to sometimes randomly switch to the integrated graphics as the primary GPU. Kind of annoying going from a loading screen and my frame rate dropping 75% once I'm loaded. After driver updates, it "seems" to be okay right now. Had the problem come back once after that and a clean install of the Nvidia driver took care of it.
Also the fan, as said before, does really crank rather loudly when it gets going, however the majority of my time using it so far, its been nearly silent. Only gets loud when I'm really pushing the comp. It's a "smooth" loud, not a "rattling", annoying loud.
Screen quality, is not the best, as said before, but it really is tolerable in my opinion. I've had to deal with much worse in my life. Only real problem I've had so far is it got a little darker than I'd prefer in a dungeon I did in WoW. But not a huge deal.
Small things:
- Sometimes the space bar is not as sensitive as I'm used to dealing with and I have to consciously pressed in the middle and a little bit harder than I'm used to.
- Track pad is def a little annoying and takes getting used to. It's tolerable though, but I'd suggest using a mouse mostly if you get this.
- Not the prettiest laptop, but it's not the ugliest either.
- I can see the finish on the keys and near the wrist wearing off rather quickly.
Pros:
- Its a beast and it runs very smoothly.
- Runs games pretty well for a laptop.
- Some may not like the finish, but I actually kind of do. It's a nice touch.
- It's pretty thin, doesn't weight much, and keeps surprisingly cool.
Would I buy it again?
Yes, its a great deal and although it has flaws, its seriously a good deal for the money. I'm happy with it so far.
Unless money is not a huge issue for you, the FHD through Amazon seems the much better deal. Roughly $300 cheaper than the UHD with same specs (factoring in buying 256gb SSD and transfer cable). And I'm quite convinced 4k is worth it just yet. -
Not sure why Dell is taking so much time..
Order date: 28-10-2015
Expected delivery date: 30-12-2015
More than two months for a default configuration...
(and I just sold my old laptop..so now I'll have to buy another laptop to use till the 7559 is delivered) -
Can anyone test the sRGB on this model?
Ive been getting different values from different reviews.
70% from http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/inspiron-7000-15-7559-quick-review.783284/
and 100% from http://pcverge.com/dell-inspiron-i7559-763blk-15-6-full-hd-gaming-laptop-review/ -
It's possible they got a different model of LCD panel, Dell is known to do that. As soon as they said the panel was "bright", "brilliant" and "crisp" it tells me they don't have the same display panel I do. Nobody in their right mind would describe the FHD panel I have as bright and crisp.
I ran my calibration test twice on two different days in two different locations, got the same results both times (I used a Sypder4Express).
That being said, I'll be BEYOND pissed if it turns out Dell is using several different LCD panels, and they sent me a laptop with the crappy one. It wouldn't be the first time Dell has done something like this though.
If people with the FHD model can download HWINFO64 and post here with the model/ID of the screen it would be appreciated.Last edited: Oct 30, 2015 -
In the review they tell something about an anti - blue configuration and an 100% sRGB configuration

Based on how vague and pictureless review 2 is, I would not be surprised if the author never physically tested the laptop and just used published specs. It has a noticeable lack of details that would require physical testing.
-
Very possible.
Can other owners check too please?
-
Mine is the same as yours. BOE is the manufacturer.

Everything is this second review breathes 'I did not test this notebook myself' to me.
Things like this 'Dell claims that it can go for 10+ hours-a beefy one, but I don’t think you’re getting more than 1-2 hours if you’re gaming. If surfing the web etc. you should end up with more than 4 hours, though.'
On a sidenote, I read stuff like 'premium-level design measuring less than an inch thick forged with aluminum and diamond-cut beveled edges'...but everyone here says it's rubberized plastic. I know that Dell advertises the 17" version to be made out of aluminuim - but not a word on de 15". -
This might be the panel ramzay has:
http://www.panelook.com/NV156FHM-N41_BOE_15.6_LCM_parameter_25578.html
VERY interested in hearing if there are different panels being used.... -
I'd be surprised to see aluminum construction on such a cheap laptop. Not to mention from a surface temperature point of view, plastic is better (metal transmits heat better, meaning the keyboard/palm rests would be hotter).
-
Well, the brightness looks about right (200 nits is what I would've ball-parked). I measured 51% NTSC, that panel says 45%, probably within the margin of error (my calibration tool might be off by a few %, and the manufacturing process might produce panels with a few % difference too).
Just to be sure, when I get home I'll do a new, fresh Windows install then measure the screen again - maybe I screwed something up during my first OS install. -
Got mine today and everything seems ok except the screen. There is some kind of flickering at the bottom of it.
Can it be fixed with bios update or driver update. I'm thinking of sending it back to dell.
Made a video of it. Anyone with the same problem?

Looks defective to me...Mine does not do this.

So how is everzone doing
Yeah already called dell and will probably send it back.
But despite that I really like the laptop so far -
How is the quality on these 7559? I saw the price today and its really nice just want to make sure it lasts 3-4 years min
-
Build quality is good considering the price. How long it lasts depends on what you want/plan to do with it.
For regular basic tasks, I see it lasting you that long.
However, in terms of gaming, the GTX 960M will be outdated rather quickly. Four years from now, the GTX 960M will likely be rather inadequate, even for light gaming. Take a look at the GTX 560M, a card released in 2011. The 960M is about 3 times as powerful as the 560M, and the 560M isn't good for much more than running very light, older games. -
My big games are Civ 5/Pillars of eternity/Cities skyline, I'm not a huge AAA gamer
-
The biggest positive for this model was the specs vs price and there is little doubt that it appears to be really good value. However I am now having second thoughts, the apparently poor quality screen, lack of PCIe support for an SSD upgrade. poor wireless card all conspire to put me off.
I don't need to cancel yet but am slightly regretting my decision to chose this model, with some reluctance due to cost I'm thinking of biting the bullet and going for the new XPS 15 instead even though this will stretch my budget to the max.
Such a shame that Dell penny pinched on the likes of the quality of the screen, wireless card and M.2 options in order to cut costs so much. I would happily have paid £100 more for better quality in these departments. -
My Inspiron has BOE display too. FHD version.
-
It does indeed appear that this is the BOE panel.
http://www.panelook.com/NV156FHM-N41_BOE_15.6_LCM_overview_25578.html
Which is sad, because there are plenty of TN panels with much better specs (beyond the viewing angles). This is somewhat misleading advertising - "ooooh look at our IPS panel, that's an awesome feature!". Meanwhile, they don't tell you it has low brightness and bad colour reproduction.
Just because a panel is IPS, doesn't necessarily make it good. I'd rather have a good TN panel than a bad IPS.Sanarora likes this. -
I'm not sure what the reviewer means by display configurations, since I can't find any options for that.
-
Can i connect two external monitors, so, having 3 independent screens (laptop and two external monitors). Currently I can do that with my xps l502x. Can do it with that ?
-
What if I try to replace the screen? Is the screen replaceable? If so, will the screen quality improve if I use an LG screen to replace the one with dell's?
-
Let's say I replace it with a screen with a brightness of 300cd/m^2? Will it have improvements in terms of color and display?
-
Two months waiting period for a laptop.Really?
-
In Spain the product has disappeard right now lol I am suspecting that its related to a long waiting period and they have disabled the product on the site.
-
No, it will then be brighter. You have to replace it with a screen with better colour reproduction as well as higher brightness.
-
I've found the best option. Btw. Is the screen of Dell inspiron 15 7559 really BOE NV156FHM-N41?
-
http://www.panelook.com/LTN156HL06-C01_SAMSUNG_15.6_LCM_overview_24666.html
Best screen replacement. It's a Super PLS screen from samsung. PLS is better in terms of contrast and brightness. 300 nits. -
Same in italy , the product disappeared
-
Same in France, where the highest model with a 4K screen and 16GB Ram is the only one remaining (1299€). Since I've ordered the FHD version, I hope it will not be cancelled though
-
Dell rep once told me that it's the time frame in the worst scenario. Mine was estimated to arrive by 15 Nov, a month of waiting, but it actually arrived within 10 days. Don't fret.
-
Is this screen: http://www.panelook.com/LTN156HL06-C01_SAMSUNG_15.6_LCM_overview_24666.html
compatible with Dell Inspiron 15 7000(7559)? -
Yes, same in UK. Just the one model available now rather than four, obviously issues with suppliers of components or worse technical issues with some components.
-
For me I just have backlight bleed which I can only really see on black screens such as the start up screen. So it's not too big of a deal for me but it's still not perfect.
-
It seems that everyone is complaining about their screens. Straight out the box my screen was dreadful too. The colour reproduction was horrendous. This is all you need to do make it look like every other screen
1) Open Intel HD Graphics panel(Graphic Properties)
2) Click on display
3) On the left click colour settings
4) Where it says basic and advanced, click advanced
5) PUT SATURATION TO FULL
Either way it's not the brightest screen but for me the colour reproduction is a LOT better, I was considering returning it when I saw the stock settings.
Tell me if it works for you! -
A 200 nits screen with 45% NTSC coverage will look bad, regardless of what you do. It's just the way the screen was made. The colour reproduction wasn't as much of an issue as the low brightness. 200 nits is really dim.
Still, thanks for the tip. You can also play around with other settings, like brightness, and it may make it more palatable.Last edited: Oct 31, 2015 -
Man we get it. You hate the screen. If you cannot deal with it, return it. Others might want to keep it and experiment a little with different settings.
