That's what I expected, my original order was placed on the 20th Oct so wasn't far off in my estimate of after Xmas. Two months wait for a model that is being advertised is just ridiculous. Especially when you consider that the website stated at time of placing the order "Delivery 8-11 business days".
Very poor PR by Dell and somebodies ar*e needs kicking, customer services were very good but obviously this delay is not under their control.
I need a new laptop and I need it soon, not in two months. Anyway, I dug deep and when cancelling the order on Saturday placed one for the new XPS 15. Today I'm informed that the status is In-production, delivery 16th Nov. I am at last hopeful that this order will be fulfilled.Last edited: Nov 2, 2015 -
I did the same after the Inspiron 7000 laptop I ordered on Oct 18 was stuck in preproduction for more than a week. Now, the Alienware 15 I have ordered is In production with an est delivery date of Nov 12
-
Well mine was advertised with 15-20 days. That night the I couldn't pay with Paypal..so I left the 7559 in the shopping cart and paid for it the next morning. But then it said '30-35 days'. Okay..a month..that sucks. But I didn't see that they were talking about business days....
So yes, my fault. And I'm waaay to impatient for these queues. If I spot a good alternative, I'll buy that and send the Dell back when it arrives (Holland has a right to return online goods within 14 days no questions asked). -
I ordered mine on Oct 3rd from Amazon, and I got it today, Nov 2nd, so pretty much one month out.
-
Do you have a way to take pics of the display that would mean much? Or bad cameras?
-
Sure I can, I just have to wait until I get off work to do it, I haven't even opened it yet.
-
Oh okay, great! I'm highly considering the laptop but not being able to get a real idea of what it's like for display and stuff has me concerned. And I wish it had thunderbolt 3. That would make it a steal.
-
Weird, here in Canada the base model ships in two business days.
-
Ramzay tell me please here in Canada we can't order a dell laptop which comes with ssd from amazon ?
-
So far the laptop has exceeded my expectations.. I suppose it's mostly because my older laptop had a very bad TN panel, so to me this screen looks like quite a huge upgrade compared to what people were saying. I was expecting a lot worse quality than it actually is.. Here are some pictures of the laptop.. This is the amazon version with the built in SSD. It came with 206 GB free out of 250GB.. I installed a 1TB SSHD as well.. everything so far is running smoothly.. None of the issues other people were saying they were having. Wifi works great. No sunken trackpad issues.. Everything is flawless and running smoothly. Fans are silent during normal usage.. about to install some games and try them out. I'm sure they will be noisy and that's expected.

Doesn't look so bad to me, I think I'll jump. From the videos on youtube, the fans do kick up high in gaming but I think a lot of them have a pretty crap paste job (common on userspace devices)
-
Well 1 week ago Dell says on his website 31-35 days for production untill shipping. Now they ship on the next day but there is only the 4k option with ssd, 16 gb ram etc.. I sent mine back, because of the loose touchpad and ordered new on saturday (31.11.2015) and it will be delivered today. Disgusting but I'm glad.
-
I don't think I've seen anything other than on Dell's website and in the Microsoft store.
-
That's pretty much my summary in my review - if you're used to bad panels, this IPS will be an upgrade. If you're used to decent/good panels, it'll be a downgrade.
It's all relative to your expectations/what you're used to.
Use a cooling pad if you can during gaming, it'll help with temps by as much as 3-5C. -
you said that the screen is rubbish
-
No he said the screen was poor if you're used to a high quality panel with good colour space and brightness.
-
Well its a 45% NTSC panel with 200 nits brightness. To my standards it's rubbish, but I did acknowledge others might be satisfied with it.
Here's the relevant part from my review:
"It isn’t nearly as bad as the shoddy TN panel on the original Lenovo Y50 that came out last year (another example of cost-cutting in the wrong area), and if you’re used to bad TN panels, this will be an upgrade. But if you’re used to good panels from other brands, or even Dells own TrueLife/InfinityEdge/Alienware panels, or you require a bright panel with at least 72% NTSC coverage, you’ll be disappointed. I know I was.
Bottom line - it’s a better panel than what you’ll find on cheaper laptops. But when you consider 15” laptops in the same price range from Clevo (Sager)/MSI/ASUS have better panels, this was the wrong place for Dell to cut costs." -
Dell venderá muchos de estos.
Todo en lo que parece aceptable para el precio.
clevo 2h la batería.
Power, great battery, acceptable screen -
Has anyone been able to verify as to what is the model of the screen of dell inspiron 15 7559?

Sorry for asking this again, but to upgrade RAM which RAM stick is the best to buy? the stock Hynix one or the kingston one?

Does anybody see rapid decline in battery life .. mine was like 6hrs in first week .. it has come down to 3.5 hrs now .. i had done may be 2 100->20 cycles and a few 100->80 .. its mostly plugged

You can check your battery wear level with HWmonitor http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
-
it says 8% wear level .. is that normal
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
Seems pretty quick for 8% of wear. My Inpsiron 7348 only has 7% and it's been used and abused for 6 months now. Shouldn't account for the huge change in battery life though. Do you have something running in the background eating cpu cycles? Or maybe accidentally forced a normally running application to use the 960m?
-
If you have something like Steam running in the App tray that can keep the Nvidia GPU running constant. Im sure its something running vs a hardware defect.
-
well i did play non stop for 3 days , but on power .. the only thing i do on battery is may be watch youtube .. i dont knwo if flash player is on nvidia .. need to check
-
Do a hard shutdown then just start browsing or watching YouTube and monitor it that way.

The HyperX module is CL 9, which is pretty much the fastest 1600Mhz module you can get. The basic Kingston seems to be CL11.
So the HyperX is slightly faster. -
I'm planning on buying this laptop (the i7 1TB version) and those of you that bought it, how is it for you? Is there any glaring issues with it that makes it not worth it to buy it? This is $100 less than the rest of the laptops at this range, what's the catch?
If there is none then I'm placing my order for it today. -
^ Buy it.
Best computer I've owned.
You won't find better for anywhere near this price.
i7 non touch windows 10pro
make sure you order win pro -
Really? How's the cooling, is it good?
Are there any coupons/discounts I can get for it as well? -
Hey Matthew,
I am wondering what kind of subpixels this 4k panel has. Is it a RGBW rectangle one? Or a traditional RGB panel? I would appreciate if you bother to check. -
The catch is a screen that's worse than the others laptops in the price range and a weak 1x1 wifi card.
There are reviews out there that answer this very question, if one but looks for them... -
what's the difference between a 1x1 wifi card and a larger one? will it effect my online experience if I'm planning on using this in a large shared wifi network in college?
I've looked but it would be great if you provided links or something like that, I've tried the Dell small business coupon option but that didn't work, I've read your review and you just mentioned that you got a discount but didn't specify how. -
I had to download the latest wifi drivers from Intel to get WiFi working reliably.
-
That's fine I guess if it's on the software side of it.
Also do you think it's worth it to get the i7 if I'm not going to be doing much video editing or CAD? -
Ugh. still holding out on buying one of these- The one model that comes in red doesn't have the option for the UHD touch panel, and conversely, none of the UHD touch models can be chosen in red for some reason. Come on Dell it's not that hard to put out 1 configuration that has both things what I want. I guess they really don't want my money. Wish Dell laptops were fully customizable like they used to be... I don't even care if it increases the build/ship time, just let me configure a system that is to my liking when none of their pre-made configurations are cutting it.
-
Check the link in my signature, I did a review myself.
A 1x1 card is about half as fast as the card in the XPS. For regular Web browsing and YouTube it won't matter, but if you're into online gaming it might.

-
I don't know, I haven't tried connecting via ethernet cables.

Hi there, does this notebook supports m.2 SSDs ? the 1TB is terribly slow for me...
-
1) Yes it does
2) Not to sound like a giant douche, but that information is incredibly easy to find out, a simple search would have revealed the answer. -
Sorry my old msi notebook went kaboom.. and am using my smartphone. Cannot find the search button anywhere. Anyway thanks a lot.
So how bout the back cover? is it easy to take off ? is it easy to install the m.2 SSd or hardrive ? because slimmer notebooks like the MSI GS series is pain in the @ when upgrading the parts. -
One thing this laptop has going for it is how easy it is the swap/install the RAM and storage drives. A single screw is all it takes to remove the back panel, and then you have access to the following:
1) M.2 slot
2) 2.5" slot
3) 2x RAM slots
4) WIFI card -
Hello He1p,
Sorry for your laptop. Yes, it seems that this laptop is easy to remove the back cover. It's a single screw. Removing and installing a new hard drive is also not very hard. Concerning that task, you will be able to find more help online once you got your new laptop. In short, it's almost just unplug the old one, plug the new one. -
na no gpu activity .. but i suspect its my linux install ..i dont think its shutting of nvidia ever .. i believe i ahve to be on power every time i am on linux
.. -
Is it possible to upgrade the Wifi card to have something better? I think it's a 1x1 which can be limited in speed. How can I improve that if I buy this laptop?
