No problem I am still sort of charging my battery back up, was down a tad bit from earlier, but will test it earlier after it gets full charge.

Great! I'll be waiting for what u have to say. But I'm pretty sure the beefy 74 W battery can handle it properly

You're looking at around 10% drop over 30 minutes of browsing on the web.
-
How does that compare to what you were getting before?
-
Hi ! can you please provide where you bought the screen ?
-
Did u imitate my conditions?
1. Power saver
2. Windows Battery saver on
3. Lowest brightness
4. Firefox
5. WiFi
6. Nothing plugged into the USB ports.

I used Chrome, was using my external usb wireless travel mouse, was not on windows battery mode, and had the dGPU as preferred GPU. I would assume since I did all of this you can expect similar to/same performance as yours.
-
Lol yes. Chrome consumes more RAM than firefox and likely battery too. (The old chrome versions I've tested anyways). Travel mouse will be sipping some battery but not too much. Still!
Dedicated GPU, now that will be GULPING the battery. And windows battery saver off definitely will affect test as it limits screen to 30FPS i think.
Having considered all these 10% in 30 mins is great lol.
If you have the time please get around to testing in my conditions. If not, it's cool. Thanks for the assist! The wait for my screen continues.

Hello Guys...
Im sorry to start the M.2 SSD drama again..
I have ordered the Inspiron 15 7559 and i think it will be shipped before this weekend.
and i asked one of the Dell Technical assistant (UK) that if M.2 Sata 3 or PCIe would work with laptop for installing and running windows thru it.
this was their reply.
" With regards to your inquiry with the Insipiron 7559, yes it can support M.2 PCIe and/or M.2 SATA 3 for installing and running windows."
please follow this link for their email reply -
I got panal LGD04B9 with FHD base model non touch. No Idea how good this panel is. I think this panel is a little bit yellowish. Can anyone help me to calibrate this panel?
-
Maybe try the Calibration file on page 105. It did wonders to my BOE screen. Regardless. It's obvious the inferiority of this panel (BOE).

is there any option to get single finger scrolling on this? (scrolling single finger at the end of touch pad both vertically and horizontally)
i got used to my sony vaio lappy which has this option. -
Don't think so

My screen is here!
Haha! I was surprised to see that it already arrived my country, was expecting it next week. It will get to my local Post Office today, so Collecting it today.
'Documents'. LOL. Everything is written as Documents. Smh.

What's the verdict with this model? Original review said the screen was the poorest aspect. Are they shipping these with a different / better panel? Or the only way to get a better panel to replace yourself or go for the 4K display?
-
For me is a really good computer and has satisfied all my expectations, I still need to put a good game but I trust it will perform accordingly, I got i7 FHD version, Installed M2 and installed clean install windows, I'm waiting for my other pair of ram and my screen to replace, what i know is that they are sending machines with BOE (my case) and LG screens so I think is just luck. 4K I think is to much...
-
The verdict is that the laptop itself as a whole, even with the BOE screen is an excellent deal. For the price it was listed at and at its current price of $799 it is very hard to beat. Gaming performance is great, the laptop is relatively mobile, sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend this laptop even with the BOE display because for many this will be an acceptable display and it can be calibrated to look much better.
If you decide you don't like the stock display it can easily be swapped for a much higher quality premium display. I got mine for $75.00 and its great. If someone were too look at this laptop now, with the upgraded display they would be hard pressed to believe it was so cheap.
The GTX 960m while not the top of the line, it can definitely play all current AAA titles at 1080p with medium settings at 60FPS or higher. I would recommend this to anyone on a budget or looking for a relatively cheap mobile gaming laptop. I didn't want to spend a lot myself because this isn't my main rig, as I use my desktop beast while I'm at home. This is for moderate gaming on the road during trips. I just got sick of sitting around in hotels watching Netflix and this laptop was a cheap way to be able to enjoy some gaming while away from home. I really like it a lot.
Another benefit of this laptop over some other models is that Dell hit a home run with the cooling system. It runs relatively cool compared to other laptops with similar specs. This allows for great overclocking on the GPU, and ensures the system is far from throttle points. Thermal throttling is something other laptops with similar specs suffer from. Thermal throttling is never acceptable IMO. While some people may never notice it as thermal throttling, informed individuals will recognize this and it won't be acceptable and will lead to quick buyers remorse. I returned the Acer Nitro for thermal throttling. It was extremely bad, and would have most likely lead to decreased component life.
4K on a gtx 960m is just stupid. Even my 980 Ti isn't 4k ready. Just do not do 4k on a 15" laptop.Stanley08 likes this. -
What if I'm not interested in playing games? I can't find any other models with these strong cpu's and a decent 15" screen that don't cost an arm and a leg
-
I agree with @Talon. 4K on this laptop is totally not good. 4K on a laptop without high end GPU is better, at least we know u just wanna watch 4K movies/content. Because in terms of gaming, the GTX 960M is a long long way away from home.
BOE display was abysmal out of the box, but after calibration (file on page 105 for me), it's ALOT more usable. At least, it's justified for it's price point.
Many complaints about keyboard, none from here. Trackpad not so good, get a mouse (i still haven't lol). However i think increasing it's sensitivity might do wonders.
Gaming, it's a champ. 2 fans and 3 vents plus breathing holes under, this guy stays ICE COOL.
EASILY upgradable (RAM, SSD, SCREEN too).
Overall, for $799... We are robbing Dell in broad daylight. I paid only around $650 for this computer, so I'm not complaining. Lol

Stanley where is your screen? Did you get to install it yet?
-
It's exactly 8:55am as i type this (I'm in Nigeria). It should normally get to the Post offices at about 7 or 8am. They will likely contact me before 12pm but even if they don't and i track the item and find out it's at my local post office already, I'll just go and I'll get it of course. The alert system is via SMS and it is manual. And post office workers are too lazy to send out at times.
So no, i haven't got my screen physically yet. But before 3 hrs. I should have it.
Sometimes there is a delay but from tracking info, all seems to be fine.

Cheap shipping. Got damaged in Transit. Well there goes my new screen! So pissed at my friend right now for sending through regular standard shipping and not even marking it Fragile. I told him "send with express, I'll pay you." He sent with cheapest option.
Being cheap is a bad thing.
Back to BOE screen. Today is not a good day.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
Ouch man that hurts to look at. Did you at least verify on the back that they sent you the correct screen?
-
Yep! Correct screen. I'm so sad right now
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
Nice, I hope you double checked the cable connection was secure. I doubt it, but its worth a try to ensure the ribbon cable was properly seated and locked back in. Also try and reboot with the screen in there.

I don't understand, the LG screen is bad so i replaced the BOE screen exactly how i found it. I'll the video later. I'm on mobile data now.
EDIT: Yeah, just watched the videos. I latched the cable on tightly and taped the video cable down nicely. Thanks for the assist mate.
Hopefully i get another screen soon, definitely not as good as this one that came broken. Because i don't have money, it was a gift. But oh well!

I've bought an Inspiron 7559 for my daughter. The one with FHD display. I worked a while on this laptop to configure it , and was really satisfied with the performance. Only the BOE display was of poor quality. I calibrated it, and my daughter is satisfied with the screen.
I'm thinking now to buy this machine too for myself, but this BOE display is not good enough for me. I used to work on a Sony Vaio FZ31Z with a bright display. That's why I'm thinking to buy the one with 2 hard-disks, 16Gb ram and the 4K screen. For my work 1920x1080 is OK. So my question here for the people who have this machine with a 4K display: How is this 4K screen performing when resolution is set to 1980x1020. Does the picture stay sharp, not getting blurred? And what about the colors: Do they stay OK using this resolution? What about the brightness on this resolution: any differences? And of course, is this better for battery-performance?Last edited: Jan 13, 2016 -
Hi, i have the 4K display. The display became a bit blurry in FHD resolution. In my eyes it wasn't good enough and I couldn't stay in FHD.
I can't decide if the UHD is an upgrade or downgrade.
The good side is the quality and the larger working space. In the other side there is the small text and icons in old programs and RDP connections to windows 7 that doesn't support scaling. Also the battery life is shorter.
Actually it depends on your usage.
For me the glossy screen is another down side but this is also individual prefer.

This is my first Matte screen computer and i don't think I'm going back to glossy.

How is the backlit of the keyboard of Dell Inspiron 15 7559? Does the light pass through the letter? Is it visible when typing in the dark?
-
The keyboard itself is arguably good. Some people don't like it. But personally, i like it. It's okay.
Speaking of Backlit, is perfectly comfortable. And of course very visible in the dark. There are 2 levels of brightness. And even the dimmer one is visible enough. Cheers!
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
Haha. What i'd like to ask is that if the light passes through the letters, not only the edge of the keys.
-
This answer ur query?
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
Thanks for d effort. I can't seem to know by the picture if the light passes thru d labels of the keys. I've seen some reviews in youtube that they're backlit's light doesn't pass thru d letters. Could you please confirm my doubts? TIA
-
I guess it's on the edge. Maybe wait for a second opinion. I don't think they pass through the keys.
Sent from my D6603 using TapatalkTensai47 likes this. -
Letters on the keyboard are white correct so can't tell if those are lit but I think they would have to be otherwise you couldn't see which key you are hitting
-
Could u please try it in a "very dark" room and take a picture, like pretty please. Lol
-
Just tried like you said, for me light passes through the letter is noticeable only in really dark room, but is not like a glass cant take pictures right now.
My question is about the battery, I remember reading something like it was like and intelligent battery or something like that?? the issue is with my previous laptop when i was connected to the wall I used to take off the batt when fully charged, but with this one you cannot take out the battery, so my question is what is the best way to manage 7559 battery ? I want it to last as much as possible! (years)Tensai47 likes this. -
It's 4pm here. No room is very dark.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
Just try to use it down to at least 50% once a week i guess...
Everyone should also get this app named 'Batterycare'. I set it to automatically set power profile to high performance when plugged in and power saver when on battery. Also it monitors your battery health. Try it. Been using it for maybe 1 to 2 years now. Since my last computer anyways...

Sorry for the late reply but I went with an Intel 8260. Runs like a champ. Definitely have a lot better range now with the laptop.
On a side note I replace the BOE panel on mine with a Samsung LTN156HL02-201 (matte). What an amazing difference! Brightness is roughly about 50% better and the overall clarity is incredible. I don't understand why Dell doesn't use one of these panels to begin with. The savings with the BOE has to be pennies and it would greatly increase sales with such a great looking screen. Well worth the money! -
It's an $800 laptop with a 6th Gen CPU and 4GB Nvidia GTX 960M. Corners were cut.
No optical drive, Lower quality screen.

I consider no optical drive a benefit
-
How is that so? Dat if the need to do something on a disc ever arises, you have to look for another computer or wait till u get home.
How is it a benefit?
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk -
This Samsung LTN156HL02-201 display sounds very interesting.
Do you know what the specs are of this Samsung display?
The nits, adobeRGB, sRGB and NTSC values...
Where did you buy the display?Last edited: Jan 14, 2016 -
Usually the optical drive just takes up space and is rarely used these days. If they take it out it either means the laptop is thinner or they use the space for other components or bigger battery or better cooling. You can always buy a cheap usb external optical drive that you can use for those few occasions you need it (no need to go to another computer).
-
I tried and it seems to me that light pass through the letters, in fact if i press a key I'm able to see the central led.
-
2am, really dark room. Laptop screen off too. Take a look.

KALI LINUX on 7559
Hi All,
Has anyone managed to load a live version of Kali Linux on the 7559? I cannot get it to boot without running into what looks like a discrete graphics issue. The black screen that I get is normally resolved by adding nomodeset to grub in the Kali start options screen, but it hasn't helped on this laptop.
Any advice gratefully accepted.
