Some external reviews may point out the lanes of Thunderbolt 3 port. Example like Dave Lee

I have heard that it's a full speed thunderbolt 3 port, however there doesn't seem to be any solid reviews on the 7577 yet. I'm sad dell didn't send out any review laptops before offering them for sale.

Another thing I am going to call dell about today from my itemized list:
1 525-0033 McAfee LiveSafe Consumer 12 Month Subscription $41.65
It would be awesome if they could get rid of that crap and I could save $41.65, lol. I don't have my hopes up but I should try since that would make this laptop around the $800 mark before any dell rewards or cashback. -

So I just spoke with dell and they said that when I receive the laptop I can request the refund for McAfee. I'll have to do that because the only thing I detest more than McAfee is paying for McAfee that I'll never use...
-
Hi, I Checked with Dell via chat and they said the Adobe RGB coverage is 99%, can anyone else confirm this?
Thanks -
That might false and misleading, unless pointed out by external reviews.
99% AdobeRGB might be achievable thru IGZO or OLED panels -

Looks like mine should ship tomorrow. I'm pretty excited for it, I wish I wasn't tied up in surgery all week otherwise I'd get a review up the day I get it. By this weekend I should have some information posted though.
-
I guess people who needs battery importantly should get Asus GL503 instead.
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
What do you mean? -
GL503 has bigger battery than 7577
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
Ah, I didn't know what you meant by "targets battery" but I see you've updated your post. Yeah I dunno why Dell changed the size of their battery, perhaps to push people toward alienware instead. I wonder if the older larger battery would still fit in the 7577... -
how long the delivery does it take? , is good to hear that someone will receive the unit.
-
chassis is still rather t h i c c

wow very nice, i think there's no review yet on the youtube

Wait ? This model comes with a Max-Q ? I pondered buying it friday given the deal on Dell.ca but nowhere on the listed specs did I see any indication of the card being the Max-Q version ?
How do you tell them apart ? (stupid nvidia naming scheme, calling the Max-Q GTX 1055 would have been so much easier)don_svetlio likes this. -

But then they'd have no excuse for ripping people off with full price for crippled hardware

Yeah that's true, that $800 (will be closer to $650 after dell cashback) I paid for it is a total rip off...
All kidding aside, the initial reviews of the 1060MQ show it to be within 10% of the 1060. -
don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
The difference generally tends to be 10-20% depending on which 1060 laptop you are comparing it to. Full power 1060s (90-100W) tend to perform about 20% better whereas the low-power 1060s (80-85W) are only about 10% better. -
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
Yeah I guess I'm not sure which power version they are running in the GS63VR and Aero15, but it's within 10% of them. -
according to dell website they using MAX-Q TDP 60watt LOL
-
go figure!
imo Razer Blade 14 would be a great candidate for 1060MQ, to improve the constrained thermals -
don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
The RB14 already uses a near-MQ level downclocked and TDP-limited card.
-
i believe the fans go very loud
-
don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
Only about 55dB(A)
But yeah, the RB14 needs a 1050 Ti, not a 1060. I've yet to see a 14" 1060 machine that doesn't go up to around 45-50dB(A) under load. The MSI GS43 is also loud. Same for the AW13 (that is about 44-45 IIRC but still louder than I'd prefer)tesm1th likes this. -
maybe possible with remake Max-Q design? It hope it's possible to achieve at least 45db(A)
-
don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
That would be half the problem solved. The other half is the horrible PCB design on the RB14
-

Yeah that's the Max Q TDP. He's talking about the power level of the "full" 1060 in other laptops.don_svetlio likes this. -
nah i m just posting that MAXQ tdp to see the gap difference between real GTX 1060(laptop) TDP compare to MAXQ on that 7577, how much gap power (TDP) between them ? LOL i hope no significant drop in performance
-
don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
The performance drop is about 20% give or take (depending on the full-speed 1060's power and cooling capabilities)TBoneSan likes this. -
Max Q is about a 20% drop from the desktop 1060 *and still far ahead of the 1050ti if we're to trust digital foundry's results.
They've done a reasonably good amount of analysis here. About as in depth as one would want to go for a non-flagship product IMO.
-
is there a way to OC that 1060 on this inspiron?
-
The 7567 would get somewhat hot and loud already with the 1050ti, with the similar different temp per core issue of Alienwares... I'd wait a little before talking about OC...
NEWS ALERT BTW I spotted the very first comment on the 7577 on YouTube:
-
aw is it possible that max Q is not optimized yet for this model or that they would have to adjust the fan profile?
Last edited: Sep 26, 2017 -
Not an ideal testimony. One really needs some actual data. I'm guessing it comes with a hit or miss tripod heatsinks and inconsistent mounting/paste jobs like the AW's do.Last edited: Sep 26, 2017

just wait for tomorrow, @ custom90gt will receive the unit for actual testimony

Sadly makes sense; if the higher model is messy it's likely the little brother is messy too (if not worst). But let's see what the first proper temp reportings say

Sadly today won't be the day. Dell shipped with signature required and I just got home from a 16 hour day in surgery. -
@custom90gt I hope you're a surgeon
-
By any chance do you have PUBG ? I'd be interested to know what fps you'd get.
-

Hah no I'm a third year medical student on a surgery rotation.
Sadly I do not own it.
Just got home so I will unbox it and check it out -

Some teaser shots while I reinstall windows on the 7577 and upgrade the server to my 18core xeon 2696 v3...

wow thanks, how the underload temperature bro ? thats cooling looks promising, i saw it similar to alienware 13 r3 with less heatpipes, and how well the speaker sounds?
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
Hah I'm still messing with it sadly. Stupid Dell/Nvidia - I had to mod the drivers to recognize the 1060 in this laptop since I didn't want to use dell's stock drivers... -
Once you're through dealing with the usual Dell software hassles, I'm excited to see how well the laptop performs, and what its battery life is. I was ready to recommend the 7577 to a few people until I saw they cut down the battery.
-
haha do you also operate on laptops?
-
I just saw the pictures I hate the keyboard layout on this thing! it is not that different from the 7567 and its hard to type on that thing
-
custom90gt Doc Mod Super Moderator
Hah I'm older than most medical students. I've worked on computers for the past 18 years or so, also did mechanical engineering, and was in the Army...
So far the laptop has been really great cooling, temps on the cpu and gpu never hit above 71C... It's also a ton cooler and quieter than my GS63VR.
Timespy scores so far are 3200, like 15% behind the full 1060 in the GS63VR. It looks like it's lowering the clock speed around 70C. -
wow nice Temperature for 1060MQ + 7700HQ( this processor always have to blame on heat) LOL
how about the speaker quality and sound like ?
