Dell LCD 2 weeks til delivery?

I ordered a 19 inch LCD from Dell yesterday the 31st, and it says the estimated ship date is 1/7. Is that right? I know dell makes their pc's from scratch when you order but LCD's too? Do they have to be shipped in to dell first then to me? Can anyone shed some light on this?

It,s new years day. Give 'em a break. And you will more than likely receive it sooner.

 

The one thing with Dell is, that they always over-estimate the ESD.
They do this to protect themselves agains any prob's with your order. Such as: back order on parts, etc.

There is a chance is could be delivered sooner. Today is a holiday, tomorrow already Friday (and the weekend). So, really that date isn't that far off.

I understand, wanting something *now* after you have placed an order.
Practicing patience is a good thing!

Guys im not mad and I know its New Years I've just ordered other LCD's and it only took 3 days to get to my house. I was just wondering how dells system worked

Well, that's a good thing then!

You will likely get it shipped before the ESD. Unless, something goes wrong with it. Which I can't see that happening with a LCD!

Also, have you ever checked your order online or via automated dial..to see the status? Both, are very addicting!

Glad to hear it. Yep, Dell likes to overestimate in the delivery dept.. Just keep an eye on it and I am sure all will be fine.

I ordered a LCD from dell the ESD was about 7 days yet it came in like 3-4 days.

 

Is that how many days it took them to build and ship combined or what?

I ordered one on the 18th of Dec and got it on the 21st. Not to worry but I bet it ships earlier than the 7th.

Yes it says its in production. Do they make them on demand or is this what they say when its coming in from Malaysia?

 

Pretty soon it will go into the build stage.

I don't believe its coming in from Malaysia (I think that's when it's in the *boxing* stage)

Yeah..I got into checking online and by phone. And, I found that my order had progressed from the Build Stage to the Boxing Stage via automated dial.

That's a sweet deal & a nice monitor! With my EPP, I could get it for even cheaper!

I might as well tell you why im buying this. A week ago I went to open my inspirons screen and putting my thumb on the lcd to push up cracked it. It got worse and worse and finally over the time of two days, nothing was viewable. I borrowed an LCD from my uncle and really like the larger size. So now im buying a 19inch monitor for my 15' laptop for now and down the road ile buy a replacement screen off ebay or something. Can't wait!

Yes, you should receive e-mail notification with the tracking number (did you sign up for e-mail notification) ?

Or, you can check your online account, and it will have the tracking number there. Even better, call Dell Customer Care, and they can physically give you the tracking number! (They did this for me)

Check in the morning, it should be there. Otherwise, just call and check with a Customer Care Rep.

OK I received notice a few hours ago that it has shipped and it included the tracking number. Fedex says Tuesday but its already in Nashville which is somewhat close to me anyhow(Chicago) so I would bet on Monday.Cin you sure you don't work for dell JK

No update from fedex. The last movement was in Nashville, do they not ship/move on Sat. ?

 

Ok Just one more question. I am putting a new hard drive in my laptop and when I go into the bios to do the reformat will it show up on the screen what I am doing? When I first plugged this temporary screen in it didn't light up until the windows log on screen. Would this be an issue when reformatting a new HD?
