Now they give me another customer service rep, that offered to replace the laptop. I sent am email back confirming my mailing address and explaining that I would be going to court if they send me another undervalued replacement. Hopefully this replacement isn't another 1525 that is worth a good $500 less than my current 1520.

Yeah. They just sent out another "Dispatch". Which the rep has done every mother f'in time with those worthless piece of crap "Special Instructions" Which means to me that nothing will happen. I could use some extra money tho. I'm actually looking forward to telling a judge about this.

First of all beautiful grammar. Can't believe Dell can't afford to put in a proper email program that has spell/grammar check. One thing I learned from this is that Dell reps are very poetic and use beautiful words when saying "sorry"

$20 of the money I win says that if they do manage to send me a 1520, they send me Windows XP, or, they forget to give me an 8600GT because they don't put them in 1520's anymore.

I talked to Senior Management, and they offered to replace the computer. So, I sent in my computer for repair, and I just got it back. They didn't fix anything!!!! So, tonight the representative is supposed to call me back from Senior Management. I hope I don't have to repair it again....

They are officially giving me a refurb 1520 in replacement for my 1520.

I can tell because all the part numbers had "Module" in front of all of them, which is common for all Dell Outlet refurbs.

I'm fine with that, but if the new laptop doesn't have a camera, i'm gonna reject this exchange too.

    "1 UP778 Module,Liquid Crystal Display Cover,BLACK,No-camera,C/S"

I can't believe they can't get everything right for the 5th time.

Well, Dell sent me a refurbished Inspiron 1525 :) with the same specs and everything. They even sent me the same color that I bought with the 1520. That was a lot easier than I expected... I was really surprised that they actually did it right for the 1st time. I'll be receiving it tomorrow hopefully, I'll keep you updated.

Yeah. They make another mistake so they are sending out ANOTHER dispatch for a system exchange.

They refused to give me a new system. They accused me of delaying the shipment of the system (Their customer service rep charged me the wrong tax, and gave me the wrong shipment date (I was traveling during the timeframe I purchased the laptop)) putting me out of the 21 day return policy by 2 days, so they are going to give me a refurb no matter what. The guy said they would fight it in court too. I really do deserve a new system, but I really don't have the time to fight it, so i'll combat it by never buying a Dell system again.

Right now the dispatch is going through. In my possession I have my original/broken 1520, the crappy refurb 1520 (the Media buttons aren't mounted correctly, you have to push really hard to get them to work), and the escalation guy called me yesterday telling me that he just put through the dispatch for the correct system.

    5th time's a charm right?

Regardless this is going to be my last Dell purchase because I can safely say that they really screwed me, and the only reason i'm not taking it to court is because i'm taking 17 credits and working part time. If this new refurb replacement is as crappy as the one they tried to send me (media buttons not working, scratches here and there), i'm never making a Dell purchase again apart from my giftcard, and I have made a lot of Dell purchases back in the day.

Just an update. I got a call from the Escalation member, and he told me that they ran out of refurb 1520's with my configuration, of any color, so they are sending me out a 1530 with the same specifications, apart from my screen which is only 1440x900. But I was thinking of switching screens anyway since I thought 1650x1050 was a little too big for a 15 inch laptop anyway. So Dell finally made good. I will still hesitate from purchasing from them in the future, but this really calms me for the time being.

Yup, im using my m1530 right now :). They even got me a battery replacement too amist the battery shortage. So overall i'm very satisfied with my 1530. It did take an extremely long time for this whole issue to be finally resolved, but im really relieved its over.

Hopefully they take this as a lesson. Dell keeps my business for now.

    Thanks a lot.

I didn't even bother asking for compensation from Dell. I just think of how much money they wasted on shipping me/building me bad computers and I feel bad every time I see their falling stock price. The 1530 was compensation enough.

Looks like Dell learned from your example FTT, I had to return my laptop 3 times into the depot until they realized they couldn't fix it and to my surprise they called me and said they would give me a brand new XPS M1530.

One question for you though, how do i check the specs of my new laptop..? All I have is the order number

just put in your order number under the order status on Dell's website. It's not difficult to find, all you need is a confirmation zip code or something.

Congrats, looks like you went through a little more pain than i did.
