Why would that sexy machine need a skin man? That computer looks better then 70% of the women around where I live.. LOL!

Just got my skin yesterday, no time to apply it though. Took 18 days from time of order to delivery. Yikes! Hopefully will get a chance this weekend.

Ok, installed it on my Vostro 1500. Pretty straight forward. Just clean your lid really well. It doesn't stick real hard until you press on it so you can fairly easily adjust it how you want it then apply pressure from the center outboard and it holds position fairly well. It separated into a few different pieces to not cover the feature grooves on the cover. Also, the "Dell" logo on the sheet was represented by an "X" with a circle around it so it had to be removed.
Here's some photos (click for larger image):

Thanks for pictures.
Looks like a really good fit -
It is a good fit. Only problem I had is at the front outboard edges there's small tabs that wrap around, and it was difficult to keep them smooth and in alignment. They're kinda warped a bit, but I'll get over it
-
That looks fantastic. My only complaint is the blue shows through the cracks..
Still looks awesome. -

It looks good. my only complaint is it's the red wings.
Yeah, the center logo is my only real gripe. if it was covered i would have ordered several of these skins already. -
It's alright though. I forgive you. It's good to be hated. It means you're doing something well.
BTW - "HTWingNut" = " Hockey Town Wing Nut"
Anyhow, I'm sure the Dell logo exposed might have been something contractual wtih Dell to help endorse their product. I don't mind it. Not a big deal. You could probably have a custom one made and ask them to leave the logo portion as a graphic. -
Yeah, i e-mailed them about the cut-out and it's been a week with no reply. if i do all the measurements correctly i might be able to buy one for a different model and cut it to shape myself.
as for the red wings, no offence, but they have a terrible reputation around the league as a terribly overly arrogant team. the whole self proclaimed "Hockey Town" BS label they've givin' there selves yet half the population doesn't even care about them and they don't/cant even sell out there games. There are way more teams/towns that love and support their teams and deserve to be called 'Hockey Town' a lot more than detroit does. plus being so arrogant/egotistical as to put it in giant ugly black lettering over their logo just seems tacky.
They've always had a bad reputation due to having a long stream of players that take extremely cheap shots. the league simply hates the wings, And i cannot disagree with most of the reasons why, obviously it's fans don't, but it does have a bad rep.
Sorry, ranted. -
I ordered my SkinIt last Friday and received it today. I used the 'holiday' coupon code and saved $8. I haven't had a chance to apply it. Hopefully tomorrow. I was thinking about trying to find some vinyl application fluid so I could easily adjust it and smooth out any bubbles. If not, I'll just do as the instructions recommend... BTW, I went for some fantasy art. This is what I got:

That site looks pretty cool. I've ordered stickers from shatteredweb.com and they came out great. That skinit stuff looks a step above in qualilty. I may give it a go. I was planning on ordering another custom sticker from shattered.

But of importance is that Detroit is in the biggest recession out of any city in the United States, and has been for the last several years. Housing market is the worst and has the highest rate of unemployment. Southeast Michigan has turned into almost a poverty state. I'm fortunate to have a decent job, but am still reluctant to spend money on hockey tickets.
Ticket prices haven't dropped much, and the Wings have finally wised up and will drop the prices so that people can actually afford to go and aren't afraid to part with the few bucks that they put aside for entertainment.
As far as "Hockey Town" I think other cities are just a little envious that they didn't take advantage of that marketing opportunity. They are like the Yankees of hockey.
They don't take cheap shots, and have been more than generous to the fans and to the city itself. I have run into the likes of Darren McCarty, Kris Draper, Steve Yzerman, Chris Chelios just out and about and they are more than happy to shake your hand or take the time to autograph something for you. As I recall, there have been several incidents of cheap shots in other teams, and the likes of Todd Bertuzzi (thank god his stint with the wings was short), among many others.
The Wings are a finesse team, especially now with Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Samuelsson, Cleary, and Hudler. But I digress. I don't advocate cheap shots or violence in any sport. And frown upon any such actions. Regardless, you can't ignore the fact that the Wings have had a successful 15+ year run and continue to do so. -
I posted these on a separate thread, but maybe some of you would like to see some more pictures before ordering from Skinit.com. Highly recommended BTW!
I got 2 skins (one for future use) from Skinit.com. Great company, with fast service, great printing quality and good customer support.

Forgot to say nice skin thwingnut. I'm not a Wings fan but I can respect the devotion... Go Devils!!!
Yours looks good too orion23
In case anyone is interested, here are a few pics of my skin:
From straight above w/ no flash:
Top up at an angle w/ flash:
Low angle from back of laptop w/ flash:
The last pic probably gives the best representation of the colors. I wanted a dark image for the black Vostro. The skin is much more brown than I had hoped but it still looks better than the black. I'll probably do a full writeup next week and post it under the Notebook Cosmetic Modifications thread... -
