Bah!
I missed the boat. I had a Vostro 1500 configured for my wife with Core 2 Duo 1.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD, TrueLife 1280x800 display shipped out the door with tax for $580. Now the deal is gone (one day only).
I like my Vostro 1500. Does anyone know of a similar deal available now for a 14" or 15" Vostro or Inspiron?

Thanks I just noticed that. A Vostro 1400 or 1500 with an 8400GS no less (instead of crappy Intel X3100) for $634 shipped. Not a bad deal.
A little more than I wanted to spend, but good deal nevertheless. Yours is pretty much the same way I have it configured. Now to go with the 14" or 15"? The main difference is 1 lbs. lighter but 1" smaller screen. -

I am looking for a crazy deal from dell as well. I went to the dark side and tried a Toshiba (on my sig), and so far I had nothing but trouble ever since I had it. A nice 14" Vostro or Inspiron should heal the wound incely. Will there be another crazy deal from Dell on Vostro 1400? Like under $500? I am having my fingers crossed.

I dunno if there will be a much better deal. I could have gotten one for about $50 cheaper, but it had an X3100 graphics instead of the 8400 GS. At least I think it was the X3100 because it looks like you can't get the X3100 anymore. Not that it matters, 8400 GS is a much better graphics chip anyhow.
Dell Vostro or Inspiron Deals (under $600)?
