Well I have put back indefinetly the purchasing of the M1330.

On the Dell order page it is saying please allow 4 to 7 weeks for delievery, well that is just too long.

I am actually thinking more along the lines of keeping my 700m and maybe looking again in a few months, I wouldn't mind a latitude, but I am not happy with any of the screens they have on offer.

Dell appears to not want any business at the moment, and are doing their best in turning all but the most serious of buyers away.

Maybe by the time I am willing to buy, prices will have come down, and they may offer more than the limited array of configurations they do at the moment.

Now is definitely not the time to buy the M1330. It's a shame they are still running commercials for it on TV.

Dell is smashing all competitors right now, their laptops are the hottest thing on the planet. The XPS M1330 for example is on an advertising blitz, and they are selling like hotcakes.

    But they delays..............

In the end, Dell will probably be the number 1 seller this year in computers. Even in the workplace, I am seeng not only my company but many of our competitors putting in new desktops all with the Dell Logo.

For laptops, it is just so easy now for companies to go online a get a latitude or Inspiron notebook.

Sales figures will be very interesting.

What'll really be interesting to see is if Dell learns anything from this. They're offering a solid, cheap, consumer laptop in the Inspiron and one of the hottest ultraportables on the market; they have to anticipate getting backlogged.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone got fired for this, actually, haha...

I was informed yesterday that the delays are specifically related to the LED lead times which are about to become much greater than initially expected. The initial lead times reached a length of 15 days delay so I can only imagine people seeing 11/2 and 2 month delays if they want this system.

The lead times, on the m1330, are separate to any predicted for laptop covers and relate specifically to the lcd itself.

Maybe this is why we are now seeing Toshiba LCDs in the m1330s and not Chi mei as first expected.
