Hi guys, I got Dell Care Plus (the three year warranty, accidental care, etc. all that good stuff) for my Inspiron 1520. Now, if my previous laptop is any indication to Dell's batteries, I know that they usually start sucking by the end of one year or so. If my 9-cell battery for the 1520 starts to suck say 1.5 years from now, is it covered under my 3-year warranty and so will I get a replacement?
Thx in advance

Can you give me a link showing me this information regarding battery and warranty service? I can't find anything so far on Dell...
-
No, batteries are not covered under Dell or any other company's warranty...

Batteries have a 1 year warranty I think.

I have a 1505 right now that I originally ordered with a 6 cell. I wanted to get a 9 cell but didn't want to pay $179 on Dell's website. I found a seller on ebay that sells them (they aren't the recalled ones, lol) for $39.00. I have been using it for 7 months now and it's still getting 3:45-4:00 hours on a full charge. Also, I received it in two days!

All batteries, no matter which brand you buy - be it Sony, Dell, Apple -all have a standard 1 year warranty, unless specified.

I've bought a battery on e-bay before....it died in like 15 minutes and I trusted the guy cuz he had a 98% rating. I wanted a refund and the guy was like u gotta pay $20 shipping back and they'll send a replacement....at which point I was like screw u and marked his rating down. I haven't trusted e-bay batteries ever since...
On another note, so long as I'm in my warranty service, if my battery gives way, I think I'll just call up dell and see what happens. hopefully if I nag at them enough they'll send me a replacement -
I'm glad my eBay battery wasn't like yours...

do you remember the seller's name? i think it would be nice to have an extra battery

zenecis - The seller's name is: wholesalelaptopnparts and their feedback is 99.8

Batteries are considered consumables (no, don't eat them) and have a 1 year warranty. They are not covered under extended warranty plans. -
Greetings,
The thread's old, I know. I wanted to share that(for sure)Dell will net honor their warranty on batteries. I am going through this right now. I have a 3 year additional warranty with the laptop, and nearly a year and a half into the life of the computer, the battery will not hold a charge for any longer than twenty minutes. Nowhere on the order page for the warranty does it specify that batteries are not covered. I am going to try to get the nearly $600 in warranties (between two laptops) refunded now. -
Around the 11 month mark with Dell, contact XPS support and tell them your battery is not holding the same charge anymore (if thats the case). They will get a new battery out to you the next day.
