It's a freaking awesome replacement. One downside is the screen, but hey, the rest of the specs are outrageous, not sure how you swung that (dual HDs and blu-ray burner). There is a chance you could have pushed for XPS 16 or M17x but it's very slight one (based on the screen).

Makes me glad my Studio 1747 came with 3 year warranty. Figure by beginning of year 3 if it goes, I can get Studio 1755 or something like that :).

DAAAAAYyyuuuum!!!!, Bluray RW!! and 8GB DDR3???

was it hand delivered by a guy with white gloves thats a $2000+ system....

I don't believe you theres no way DELL authorizes this. Sounds lik eyou got someones Defective machine due to all the Throttleing problems DELL refuses to admit to and correct or recall.

What type of power supply 90Watt 130watt or 150 watt. Make sure you get the 150 Watt you are gonna need it if not the CPU will never run at full capacity.

Obviously a returned system, that some guy looked at the inventory Said Oh look a 17 inch Laptop this will make the customer happy.

Excellent Specs but all of the 1747 with 45nm Quad Core i7 should have been recalled.

how easy was it for you to get that? Look what I got below, and it still isn't good enough. The Radeon HD 46xx line of graphics card SUCKS.

I'm amazed though that they default configured your system for Blu-ray and 8GB memory. O_O

They gave me such a hard time when we upgraded mine to 8GB, because performance has sucked so much worse compared to my E1705 gaming wise.

I could have pushed for the xps16 but I didn't want to lose out on the already awesome specs they gave me. I got a 90w power supply and it does suck and most of the time I use the battery.

I didn't request for the studio laptop I was thinking they were going to send another inspiron. No notification that they had shipped the computer or anything it just showed up at my doorstep.

You guys think I should try for the XPS 16 or M17x?

Worse they can say is no, But go directly for the M17x because if you are going to be shot down might as well be for the maximum.

Ask who woul dbe the appropriate person to speak to the system I got was not satisfactory, this is DELL's fault

Ask them to consider the M17x with Bluray and 8GB RAM

But if you are always on battery the M17x gets about 1 hour battery max because of its desktop style graphics.

And if its Core i7 consider the newer 32nm Dual Corei7 instead of the 45nm Quad Core i7

the 32nm are fine the 45nm sucks

greats specs great negotiating leverage but what you got is someones defective returned Quad Core 45nm machine that they returned within the 21 days. plus a 90watt power supply is not adequate for that machine. DELL knows this.

they will try and send you through the repair processes again if you claim the machine is defective, don't fall for that. Stick to the machine is not comprable and not satisfactory
