I have chatted with 2 dell reps on the phone, and have had 1 frustrating online chat session. I have just one simple question I can't seem to get an answer for. Here goes. I purchased the M170 when it was at its cheapest, and also purchased a 1 year at home warrenty and the 1 year accidental care (to keep the price low, I only did one year for now). Heres my question. If I upgrade the at home warrenty eventually, will the accidental care also upgrade, or is it just effective for my primary year?

do'nt take this as gospel; but aren't those two different thigns? if so, i don't think upgrading one auto updates the other. i would assume that if they show up as two distinct things on your invoice (you had to pay for at home care and then pay also for accidental coverage), then they are probably considered separate things.

Accidental will be covered for how ever you paid for it - since you only bought a one-year plan, it will only be a one year plan, even if you upgrade another part of your warranty. In other words, if you upgrade the home warranty, the accidental will not go up with it.

EDIT: Ah, drumfu beat me to it

Depends on what warranty you've got. I have Dell On Call with my E1705 (with the tech guys actually based in North America), so its not that bad - they (for the most part) know what they're doing.

I have to disagree here... I initially puchased Complete Accidental Damge Protection eith my 1 year warranty. I ended up upgrading the warranty to 4 years of onsite care. The Rep who assisted me stated my Accidental would be increased as well at no charge. He indicated the Accidental coverage only has one price and once you pay for it it goes for however long your system is covered. Dont talk to support on warranty upgrades... Call:

Extending your limited warranty1 is just a call away. Specially trained Dell Service Professionals can be reached by calling

You may not get the answer you are looking for the first time, just hang up and call back. That's what I did.

    Hope this helps.
