    Does anyone know whether this applies to refurbished systems purchased through Dell Outlet?

    The Dell eligibility page doesn't provide an answer one way or another.

    Has anyone been able to "qualify" for the upgrade who has recently received their new system?

    I mean, if I wanted to be a bugger, I could return my system and reorder a new one... just to qualify for the upgrade.

    I'd rather not pay for the $49 upgrade that is currently offered from Microsoft.

    Do it, why waste 49 dollars. I just canceled my order and reordered the following day to qualify. Hopefully they won't charge you a restocking fee.
