    Hi,

I was here a while ago, wanted to do a review on the xps 1210 i got at that time, but uni start (annual nightmare).

However, I do wonder about the power issues with this laptop, i have installed windows etc. myself, and used the lastest drivers from dell's website. But the power management features arent as good (Quickset). For example, the cpu speed would remain at 980mhz when i am playing HL2 ep1, but would stay 980mhz when using office on battery. Is there any third party programs to manage this? I am trying to get the max battery life! and performance, whenever i want (thats what we should be able to do with computers????am i right????). Furthermore, do any other owners have the problem, where the system would halt whenever it standbys, or just been sitting there on battery? Anyone knows how to slove this?? Its a nightmare when you are reading when typing, but after reading for a while, the system dies! Losing all the work!!!

Another thing, i didnt get the media direct program when getting this laptop, as i dont watch DVDs on here. But anyone knows how to get the blue buttons to work, the volume works, but not the play stop FF...etc...

On a different note, anyone heard Quantas have banned Dells on their flights? I thought that was quite funny! Dells are not tursted by the Australians.........anymore.......Melbourne uni just changed all their computers in the library from dell.......lol.

Lastly, i gave quite a poor review when i first got this. But after living with it for a while, this laptop is xxxxxxx awesome! I even sold my P4 3.0 desktop! Not needed!

Please help. i havent been on the forum for a while....... so i am lossing what happened.....

    thanks x100000000000000000

You should be able to alter the power settings to have underclocking only when on battery.
