I have a Dell XPS M1330 which worked perfectly until 2 days ago. It is 5 months old. I was reviewing photos I had uploaded - using slideshow - the screen started 'disolving' into green and yellow lines. At first it was impossible to switch off! Attempts to switch on seemed to go Ok but the screen started breaking down again until it was a pattern of green with vertical darker lines - one wider in the middle of the screen.
Left overnight it started working normally again yesterday morning until it started again to disolve.
Today any attempts to startup are met with the green vertical line pattern.

Anybody any idea? - I am not a computer expert! This has me baffled.

    Thanks

    Laowai

Call Dell. It sounds like your video card flipped out. They should replace that as it should still be under warranty.

This is a pretty common occurrence on this forum. There have been literally over a dozen people on here over the past 6 months that have had the same thing happen to their 1330's (myself included). For most of us, a call to Dell support resulted in them sending a technician to replace the motherboard of the 1330. This did in fact completely fix my computer, and it has been working flawlessly since.

Thanks for the helpful messages I have received about my XPS M1330 - it is a relief to know that others have experienced the same problem - in fact, the problem looks similar to the photo from 'darthsat' although on mine the line spacings were narrower. I will now try contacting Dell and see what happens.
Thanks again. Sorry for delay in relying, must be about a 12 hour time difference and I have just got up to find the messages. Sincerely.
